Under Tack Show set for Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.

The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s Winter Mixed Sale’s Horses of Racing Age Section is set for Monday, January 22nd at 9:00 a.m.

There are 75 horses cataloged in the Racing Age section, with Hip No.’s 201- 265 in the original printed Winter Mixed Sale catalog as well as on the OBS website.

The supplemental catalog, including Racing Age supplements Hip No’s 266 – 276, is also available on the website as well as in print at the sales grounds. Set lists are available on the OBS website at the main sale page by set and by consignor.

TheUnder Tack Show will showcase newly turned 3-year-olds by a strong roster of proven and up and coming sires.  American Pharoah, Bucchero, Classic Empire and Constitution are represented, as well as  Khozan,  Mitole, Munnings, Tapit, Vino Rosso and Violence.

The Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com and via the Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form, TDN and Past The Wire websites. The Under Tack Show will be recorded and can be viewed on the website, in its entirety or by individual hip number. Videos will also be available in the Video Room as well as several kiosks in the breezeway and covered walking ring. Visitors to Ocala will find the videos available for in-room viewing at The Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton. Under Tack Show results are posted on the OBS website.

The online catalog’s main page contains a link to a sortable master index providing searchable pedigree and consignor information as well as access to pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed. Under Tack videos, walking videos, photos, and past performances are also available.

The iPad version of the entire catalog is available via the equineline Sales Catalog app. The app allows users to download and view the catalog, record notes and also provides innovative search, sort and rating capability. The sale begins on Tuesday, January 23rd at 12 noon with Hip No.’s 1 – 122 plus supplements 123-137 cataloged in the Consignor Preferred Session. The Horses of Racing Session, cataloged as Hip No.’s 201-265 plus supplements 266-276, begins immediately following the conclusion of the Preferred Session. The Open Session, with Hip No.’s 401 – 643 plus supplements 644-663 cataloged, is set for Wednesday, January 24th and also starts at 12 noon.

Winter Mixed Sale Supplemental Catalog now online

The supplemental catalog to the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2024 Winter Mixed Sale is now available on the company’s website in the sale’s main page. go to the Winter Mixed Sale

A total of 46 horses have been supplemented to the sale.

Fifteen horses have been supplemented to the Preferred Session, for a total of 137 horses cataloged as Hip No.’s 1 – 137. The Session will begin Tuesday, January 23rd at 12 noon.

The addition of 11 supplements increases the Horses of Racing Age Session to a total of 76, cataloged as Hip No.’s 201 – 276, beginning immediately following the Preferred Session.

Twenty horses have been added to the Open Session, which gets underway Wednesday, January 24th at 12 noon with a total of 263 horses cataloged as Hip No.’s 401 – 663.

The Racing Age section’s optional Under Tack Show is scheduled for Monday, January 22nd at 9:00 a.m.

The supplemental catalog will be available in print at the sales grounds.

Supplements to the Winter Mixed Sale are still being accepted.  Their catalog pages will not be available in the printed supplement but will be available in the online catalog and in print at the sales grounds.

Mystic Lake takes Tampa’s Gasparilla Stakes

C2 Racing Stable LLC and Stefania Farms, LLC’s Mystic Lake (Mo Town – Salty Soul) overcame a rough start to take the early lead in Saturday’s $50,000 Gasparilla Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, set the pace, refused to yield and held on gamely to score by three quarters of a length. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Mo Town, third in Woodbine’s Mazarine Stakes (G3) in her final start at two. Now 5-2-1-1 for trainer Saffie A. Joseph, Jr., she has earned $117,446 to date. Hours after joining Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winning OBS Winter Mixed Sale graduate White Abarrio as an Eclipse Award Finalist, Zedan Racing Stables’ Muth (Good Magic – Hoppa) made his 3-year-old debut in Santa Anita’s $200,000 San Vicente Stakes (G2). Leading a 1-2-3 OBS sweep, he came from just off the pace to charge past fellow OBS March graduate Pilot Commander (Justify – Rebuke) and win by 2-3/4 lengths, with OBS Spring Sale grad Slider (Jimmy Creed – Days Like This) checking in third. Joseph P. Morey, Jr.’s Vote No (Divisidero – Sistas Ready) is three for four with two stakes wins after coming from off the pace in Saturday’s $125,000 Turfway Preview Stakes, taking command passing the eighth pole and drawing away to win by 5-1/4 lengths. Trained by William E. Morey, the graded stakes placed 3-year-old colt by Divisidero is now 4-3-0-1 and has earned $425,338. Gary Barber’s Bron and Brow (Gormley – Changing Vista) successfully defended his title in Saturday’s $100,000 Gary P. Palmisano Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds, tracking the leaders from the outside, slipping inside turning for home, reaching the lead in deep stretch and easing away to score by 2-1/4 lengths. That’s four stakes victories for the 5-year-old son of Gormley, purchased for $200,000 out of the Grassroots Training & Sales consignment at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. LSU Stables’ Ari’s Magic (Good Magic – Ari the Adventurer) earned TDN “Rising Star” status with a sensational debut at Tampa Bay Downs on Friday, rallying to the leaders on the turn, taking charge late and drawing away to win by 4-3/4 lengths. The 3-yearold colt by Good Magic, consigned to the 2023 OBS March Sale by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, was purchased for $725,000 by Steven W. OBS March catalog now online

The catalog for the 2024 OBS March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training is now available via the OBS website at obssales.com.

A total of 849 juveniles, including 41 two year olds for the complete dispersal of the prominent breeding and racing Lothenbach Stables, Inc., have been cataloged for the three-day sale, set for Tuesday through Thursday, March 12th through March 14th with all sessions beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Hips 1 – 284 will sell on Tuesday, Hips 285 – 568 on Wednesday and 569 – 853 on Thursday.  The Under Tack Show will span four days: Wednesday, March 6th through Saturday, March 9th. Hips 1 – 213 will breeze Wednesday; Hips 214 – 426 will breeze Thursday; Hips 427 – 639 on Friday and Hips 640 – 853 will go Saturday. All four sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the TDN, DRF and Blood-Horse, and Past The Wire websites.

Since the beginning of 2022, OBS March graduates have been on the board 363 times in black-type races, 118 of them graded stakes including 41 graded stakes wins.

Allred and Jack Liebau’s Wynstock (Solomini – Timberlea) set the pace in Saturday’s $200,000 Los Alamitos Futurity (G2), turned back a challenge on the turn, was headed briefly in the stretch, then came again to score by half a length. It was the stakes debut for the 2-year-old colt by Solomini, trained by Bob Baffert, now 4-2-0-0 with $162,740 in earnings. Shea D Boy’s Stable’s My Shea D Lady (Solomini – Ladyberg) was a 2-1/2 length winner of the filly division, saving ground on the turn, moving to the leaders after turning for home and taking  charge a furlong from home. The 2-year-old daughter of Solomini was a $100,000 purchase out of the Omar Ramirez Bloodstock consignment at the 2023 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Michael Imperio, Robert Cotrone, Hibiscus Stables LLC and Rudy R. Rodriguez’ Antonio of Venice (Laoban – Stella Performance) had an eventful journey in the roughly run open division. He was up close early, blocked on the turn and bumped at the head of the stretch, but kept coming and was best by three quarters of a length. OBS Spring Sale graduate Heavyweight Champs (Solomini – Miss Bonie) crossed the wire third but was awarded second by disqualification. The winner, a 2-year-old son of Laoban, is trained by Rudy Rodriguez and is now 6-2-1-1 and has earned $350,744. Conglomerate captures Woodbine’s Valedictory Stakes

Gary Barber’s Conglomerate (Lemon Drop Kid – Maddy’s Heart) saved ground in the early going of Woodbine’s $159,600 Valedictory Stakes (G3) on Sunday, came off the rail after turning for home, caught the leaders in deep stretch and drew away to win by a length and a half. It’s the second straight win and first stakes victory for the 6-year-old gelding by Lemon Drop Kid, purchased for $150,000 out of the Naill Brennan Stables at the 2019 OBS June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Brad Grady and David Grund’s Seminole Chief (Girvin – Secret Song) led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $300,000 FTBOA Florida Sire In Reality Stakes on Saturday, pressing the pace, taking the lead turning for home and besting October/June graduate Secret Lover (Khozan – Wave Bye Bye) by a head. October/March grad Bentornato (Valiant Minister – Her Special Way) checked in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Florida-bred son of Girvin, consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent, to the 2023 OBS June Sale and sold for $80,000 after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5. Case Chambers’ Let Them Watch (Maximus Mischief – My Rolex) took the lead at the start of the $50,000 Sandpiper Stakes and never gave it up, holding off OBS January graduate Chi Chi (Audible – Simply Confection) by three quarters of a length. That’s two stakes wins for the 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Maximus Mischief, trained by Mike Maker, now 4-3-0-0 with $129,095 in earnings.
