Less Than Perfect – Clyde D. Rice’s Less Than Perfect dueled for the lead from the start of the $100, 200 Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs on September 25, took charge at the top of the stretch and drew away to a 2-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Bourbon Cowboy (April ’14, August ’13).  It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Florida-bred Pleasantly Perfect colt, now 7-2-0-1 with $107,655 in earnings. Consigned by TdM Sales (Tristan & Valery de Meric), Agent, he was purchased by Rice for $22,000 at the 2013 OBS August Sale.  

Saratoga Heater – P. R. Racing’s Saratoga Heater jumped into stakes company off a maiden win in August, went to the front in Saturday’s $150,000 Bertram F. Bongard Stakes at Belmont and was never headed, splashing to a four length victory over fellow OBS graduate Bullheaded Boy (June ’14). A 2-year-old colt by Temple City, he was sold for $100,000 by Grassroots Training & Sales, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale after working an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. A pair of 2014 OBS March graduates won at first asking in Japan on Saturday, with Henny Swift winning a six furlong dash over the Niigata turf course and Wonderful Luster scoring over seven furlongs on the dirt at Hanshin. 

Henny Swift – Yasushi Kubota’s Henny Swift was sold for $340,000 by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, to Polo Green Stable, Agent, after the colt by Henny Hughes worked an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Wonderful Luster – Narvick International, Agent, went to $140,000 to buy Silk Company’s Wonderful Luster, a colt by Tiz Wonderful consigned by King’s Equine, Agent, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 prior to the sale. watch his under tack video

Carpe Diem – WinStar Farm LLC and Stonestreet Stables LLC’s  Carpe Diem, the $1.6-million co-sale topper at the 2014 OBS March Sale, came out running in his debut in an $83,000 maiden special at Saratoga on Labor Day, popping to the lead at the break, setting fast fractions on the lead and then responding when challenged in the stretch, pulling away to a 2-1/2 length victory. The 2-year-old son of Giant’s Causeway, who covered 5-1/2 furlongs in a swift 1:03 4/5, was purchased by Stonestreet out of the Northwest Stud consignment after working an eighth in:10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Cinco Charlie – William William & Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Cinco Charlie, the first graded stakes winner of the OBS graduate class of 2014, added Delaware Park’s $75,525 First State Dash Stakes to his resume on Saturday, taking over turning for home and then drawing away to an authoritative 4-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 2-year-old Indian Charlie colt, winner of Churchill’s Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) in June, leaving him with a 5-3-0-1 record and $159,422 in earnings. He was purchased for $190,000 out of the Cary Frommer consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after working an eighth in :10 1/5 Under Tack Show.  watch his under tack video

Dunn Listening – John L. Moirano, Monty Foss and Steven Wecker’s Dunn Listening also chose a stakes race for her first victory, coming from well off the pace with a sustained late run to win the $141,675 Lady Finger Stakes at Finger Lakes by a head on September 6. Purchased by trainer Gary Contessa for $30,000 at the 2014 OBS April Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5, the 2-year-old filly by Intidab is now 2-1-0-0 and has earned $88,655. watch her under tack video

Mr. Jordan – David Melin, Leon Ellman and Laurie Plesa’s Mr. Jordan got his career off to a flying start at Monmouth Park on September 14 in a 5-1/2 furlong maiden special, bursting from the gate on top and giving nothing else a chance, galloping away to an easy 6-1/4 length victory in a rapid 1:03 1/5. The 2-year-old colt is a two time OBS graduate, sold first by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2013 August Sale before working a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show prior to the 2014 April Sale and being purchased out of the de Meric Sales consignment for $155,000 by trainer Eddie Plesa, Jr. watch his under tack video

My Point Exactly – Pinnacle Racing Stable LLC, R. Norman, Roger L. Justice & H. Jack Hendricks’ My Point Exactly,  fresh off a maiden special victory at Gulfstream in August, shipped to Louisiana Downs for Saturday’s $75,000 Sunday Silence Stakes, stayed close to the pace, closed with late rush and got up late to win by a neck. The 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Concord Point, purchased out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale after speeding a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show, is now 4-2-0-0 and has earned $72,220. watch his under tack video

Nagzilla – Brian Chenvert and Eddie Kenneally’s Nagzilla used the lessons learned in her Saratoga debut in August to good use in a Churchill maiden special on September 12, rallying to take command a furlong from the finish and drawing away from there to a 3-1/4 length victory. Trainer Eddie Kenneally bought the 2-year-old Speightstown filly for $55,000 from SAB Sales (Scott A. Bergsrud), Agent, at the 2014 OBS March Sale after she worked an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Naval Command – Pinnacle, Hendricks and Justice struck again two races later at Louisiana Downs with Naval Command, who tried turf for the first time in the $75,000 Happy Ticket Stakes. The 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by Midshipman tracked the leader, took over in the stretch and scored her first stakes win by a head, leaving her with a 4-3-1-0 record and $109,250 in earnings. A two time OBS graduate, she was first sold by breeder Woodford Thoroughbreds at the 2013 August Yearling Sale. Nicky’s Brown Miss – Savino A. Capilupi’s Nicky’s Brown Miss was a maiden going into the $199,667 Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes on September 6, but came home a stakes winner, rallying past her rivals in the stretch and drawing away to a 2-3/4 length victory. Third in Monmouth’s Colleen Stakes last time out, the 2-year-old Big Brown filly is now 5-1-0-2 and has earned $133,180. Consigned by Mayberry Farm, Agent, to the 2014 OBS March Sale, she breezed and eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.  watch her under tack video

Quality Rocks – Destiny Oaks of Ocala LLC’s Quality Rocks is two for two and a stakes winner leading a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $100,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes on September 6, scoring by 3-1/2 lengths over Sarah Sis (June ’14), with Happy to Go (August ’13, October ’12)  checking in third. Sum Roar – Waterford Stable’s Sum Roar made no mistakes in her debut in a Gulfstream maiden special on September 13, going right to the front, putting away the speed, turning back a challenge in the stretch and then holding off a late charge to win by half a length. The 2-year-old Florida-bred filly by In Summation was purchased from Ocala Stud, Agent, for $100,000 by Steven W. Tammy the Torpedo – Long Lake Stable LLC’s Tammy the Torpedo saved ground in the early going in her debut in an $83,000 maiden special on the Saratoga turf course on August 17, but rallied on the second turn, hit the front after straightening away in the stretch and rolled to a 3-1/4 length victory. The 2-year-old More Than Ready filly, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show, was sold for $225,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2014 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video 

Zandar – Zilla Racing Stables’ Zandar was overlooked at 8-1 in a $75,000 Belmont maiden special on September 13 on the after a wide trip in his debut at Saratoga in August. But the 2–year-old Kitten’s Joy colt saved ground, took over on the inside in the stretch then bounded home a winner by a length and a quarter, covering the seven furlongs on the turf in 1:22 2/5. Concealedwithakiss – Laurie Plesa and Vincent Rizzuto’s Concealedwithakiss is two for two and a stakes winner after a two length wire to wire win in the $77,500 Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park on August 31. Consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, to the 2014 OBS June, the 2-year-old filly by Political Force sped an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Enchanting Lady – Kaleem Shah’s Enchanting Lady avenged a loss to Seduire in her May 22 debut in the $126,000 Landaluce Stakes at Santa Anita on June 22, chasing that rival to the top of the stretch before putting her away and drawing off to a 6-1/4 length victory. It’s the first win for the 2-year-old daughter of Tale of the Cat, purchased on the recommendation of Bob Baffert and Donato Lanni for $650,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Harlan’s Honor– Margaret & David Wimer’s Harlan’s Honor led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $61,200 Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park on August 10, taking the lead at the start and never looking back en route to a four length victory. Perpetual Novena (March ’14, August ’13) was second, half a length ahead of late running Nicky’s Brown Miss (March ’14). That’s two wins in three trips to the post for the 2-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday, who has earned $63,250 to date. Hashtag Bourbon– Bourbon Lane Stable’s Hashtag Bourbon was a maiden going into the $100,000 Mountaineer Juvenile Stakes on August 2 but came back a stakes winner, charging from behind on the turn, taking command in the lane and pulling away to a 4-1/2 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Gotta Get Paid (August ’13). After a first and a third from two starts, the 2-year-old colt by Super Saver has earned $66,000 to date. Heat Transfer – Patricia’s Hope LLC’s Heat Transfer sat just off the pace in the $50,000 Ohio Miss Stakes at Thistledown on July 26, came out for the drive, ran past the leaders and was best by half a length. It was the first stakes win for the 2-year-old daughter of Latent Heat, sold for $190,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2014 OBS March Sale after she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Imperial Dream – Tucci Stables’ Imperial Dream is two for two and a stakes winner after battling for the early lead in the $137,626 Vandal Stakes at Woodbine on August 16, putting away the speed at the top of the stretch and hitting the wire first by a length and three quarters. The 2-year-old colt by Stormy Atlantic, with earnings of $120,077 to date, worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased for $70,000 out of the SAB Sales (Scott A.  Story to Tell– Cecil N. Peacock’s Story to Tell took charge of the $98,000 W. L. Proctor Memorial Stakes at Los Alamitos on July 13 after turning for home and eased away to a 1-1/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Bluegrass Cat; he was second in last month’s Santa Anita Juvenile Stakes. American Sailor – Steve Landers’ American Sailor put the lessons learned in his July debut to good use in a $75,750 Del Mar maiden special on August 16, going to the lead and refusing to yield, reporting home first a half length winner. The 2-year-old City Zip colt worked an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5 at the 2014 OBS April Sale before he was purchased for $100,000 by Garry Simms on behalf of Landers out of the Silver Star consignment. watch his under tack video

Boast – Margaret V. Bloss’ Boast wasted no time winning his first race, going wire to wire en route to a 2-3/4 length victory in his debut in a maiden special at Arapahoe Park on June 29. A 2-year-old gelding by Ready’s Image, he was consigned to the 2013 OBS August Sale by Moreau Bloodstock International, Agent.

Clothes Fall Off – Cheyenne Stables LLC’s Clothes Fall Off lagged behind in the sloppy early going in a $99,600 Saratoga maiden special in her debut on August 21, but swung out for the drive after saving ground on the turn, ran past the leaders and scored by three lengths. Conquest Misbehave – Conquest Stables LLC’s Conquest Misbehave was allowed to drop well off the pace in her debut in the early going of a $76,250 maiden special at Del Mar on August 17, but the 2-year-old daughter moved toward the front on the turn, blew past the leaders in the lane and was going away under a hold at the wire, winning by 2-1/2 lengths. Conquest So True– Conquest Stables LLC’s Conquest So True wasted no time getting her diploma, taking the early lead in her debut in a Woodbine maiden special on July 27, shaking off a challenge on the turn for home and then drawing away to a 2-3/4 length victory. The 2-year-old daughter of Yes It’s True worked a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show before the 2014 OBS April Sale, and was sold for $200,000 to Conquest by Southern Chase Farm, Inc. El Kabeir – Zayat Stables LLC’s El Kabeir was a troubled third in his debut on August 14, but left nothing to chance in an $83,000 Saratoga maiden special on August 30, taking the lead at the break and improving his position from there, romping home a 10-3/4 length winner. Feathered – Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ Feathered just failed to last going six furlongs in her debut at Saratoga in early August, but the 2-year-old daughter of Indian Charlie made no mistakes going seven furlongs in an $83,000 maiden special at the Spa on August 31. She took command at the start, cruised on the lead, opened up in the stretch, and then drew away to a convincing 9-3/4 length victory. Firespike – Skychai Racing LLC & Charles Kevin Warner’s Firespike had troubled trips in his first two starts, but overcame even more problems in an $83,000 maiden special on the Saratoga turf course on August 30. After losing ground on the turn, altering course and steadying to avoid clipping heels, the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Flower Alley again changed lanes looking for room, split horses in deep stretch and charged home to score by a neck. A two-time OBS graduate, he failed to meet his reserve when consigned by Beth Bayer  to the 2013 August Sale, but was purchased by trainer Mike Maker for $70,000 out of the Blue River Bloodstock consignment at the 2014 April Sale after zipping a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Guderian  – Germania Farms’ Guderian settled for second in his debut at Pimlico in May, but made no mistakes second time out in a $38,625 maiden special at Delaware on June 19, bolting quickly to a big lead and staying there all the way en route to a three length victory.The 2-year-old son of Stroll, who worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show for the 2014 OBS March Sale, was purchased for $185,000 out of the Casse Sales LLC (Justin Casse) consignment. watch his under tack video

Harlan’s Honor – David and Margaret Wimer’s Harlan’s Honor led a 1-2-3-4 OBS parade in her debut in a $38,200 maiden special at Monmouth Park on June 27. The 2-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday beat fellow 2014 OBS April Sale graduate Anna May Our Queen by 2-1/2 lengths, with March Sale graduates Fancy Malka and Cali Thirty Seven finishing third and fourth. Johnson’s Hey Bartender had no trouble winning at first asking in a maiden special at Louisiana Downs on July 6, taking charge early, turning away a challenge in the stretch and drawing off to a 4-3/4 length victory. The 2-year-old son of Behindatthebar is a two time OBS graduate, sold by Dapple Stud, Agent, at the 2013 August Sale before working a quarter in :21 2/5 at the 2014 April Sale and being purchased for $25,000 by Johnson out of the de Meric Sales consignment. watch his under tack video

High Dollar Woman – Alex & JoAnn Lieblong’s High Dollar Woman put the lessons learned in her June debut to good use on July 27 at Saratoga, taking charge of an $83,000 maiden special after turning for home and cruising from there to victory by a length and a half. After working an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat at the 2014 OBS March Sale, the 2-year-old Super Saver filly was purchased for $675,000 by the Lieblongs out of the Eddie Woods consignment.  watch her under tack video

Holiday Camp – Michael Lund Peterson’s Holiday Camp got his career off on the right foot on June 7 with an authoritative 2-1/2 length victory in a $56,000 maiden special at Santa Anita. The 2-year-old colt by Street Boss was one of the stars of the 2014 OBS March Sale, working a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show before being purchased for $700,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment. watch his under tack video

Manahatta – Gainesway Thoroughbreds Ltd. & Peachtree Stable’s Manahatta went right to the front in her August 10 debut in a $76,000 Del Mar maiden special and refused to yield the lead, edging clear down the stretch and scoring by a length. Peachtree’s John Fort signed the ticket for the 2-year-old filly by Old Fashioned, buying her from King’s Equine, Agent, for $90,000 at the 2014 OBS March Sale after she worked an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

 

Platinum Patty – Charles A. Castille Jr.’s Platinum Patty showed her heels to her rivals in her debut in an Evangeline Downs maiden special on June 27, going right to the front at the break and romping to a four length victory. The 2-year-old daughter of Pomeroy is a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Select Sales, Agent, at the 2013 Winter Mixed Sale before she was purchased for $47,000 out of the BryLynn Farm consignment at the 2013 August Yearling Sale.

Skinner Box – Patsy C. Symons’ Skinner Box went head and head with Loon River in her debut in a $73,000 maiden special on the Saratoga turf course on August 11, surrendered the lead in mid-stretch then battled back in the final yards and prevailed by half a length. Sky Preacher– Success Racing’s Sky Preacher stretched out to a mile on the turf course at Santa Anita on June 27, took over on the second turn and and then ran off to a 7-1/2 length victory in a $73,550 maiden special.  The 2-year-old colt by Sky Mesa worked and Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before being purchased for $80,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment by Russell Smith at the 2014 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video

Starless Night– Tucci Stables’ Starless Night jumped from a front-running maiden win on June 28 into Woodbine’s $150,000 Shady Well Stakes on July 13 and the result was a carbon copy gate to wire 2-1/2 length victory. Now two for two with earnings of $121,583, the 2-year-old daughter of Grand Slam was purchased by Carlos Tucci for $40,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale after she breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Strong Coffee – Albert Frassetto’s Strong Coffee made his debut in a $98,000 maiden special on the Saratoga turf course on August 2 and ran like a horse with a future, tracking the leaders before coming out for the drive, striking the front a furlong from home and cruising under the wire a three length winner. Two Six Wins– Ciardella, Fedkin, Fazio, Joslin and Pender Racing LLC’s Two Six Wins put his experience to good use in his second start, going to the early lead, surrendering it briefly in the lane, then battling back and drawing away to win a July 6 maiden special at Los Alamitos by a length and a quarter. A two time OBS graduate, the 2-year-old colt by Midshipman was sold at the 2013 August Sale by Summerfield, Agent, prior to being consigned by Sugar Hill LLC, Agent to the 2014 March Sale and breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5. watch his under tack video

Unbridled Reward – John C. Oxley’s Unbridled Reward looks like a she has a big future after  her 7-3/4 length front-running score at first asking in a $44,000 maiden special at Churchill Downs on May 30 followed by a sharp second in the Debutante Stakes three weeks later. Zip’s Moondance – Nicholas Cammarano, Jr.’s Zip’s Moondance took the shortest way home in his debut in an $83,000 maiden special on July 24 at Saratoga, surging to the lead on the inside in the lane and drawing away to a 3-1/4 length victory, running five furlongs in a sprightly :57 4/5. Harlan’s Honor – David and Margaret Wimer’s Harlan’s Honor led a 1-2-3-4 OBS parade in her debut in a $38,200 maiden special at Monmouth Park on June 27. The 2-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday beat fellow 2014 OBS April Sale graduate Anna May Our Queen by 2-1/2 lengths, with March Sale graduates Fancy Malka and Cali Thirty Seven finishing third and fourth. Starless Night – Tucci Stables’ Starless Night was favored at nearly even money in her debut on June 28 in a $72,492 maiden special test at Woodbine and did not disappoint, leading from gate to wire and scoring by a length and a half. Cinco Charlie – William & Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Cinco Charlie,  the first OBS graduate of the class of 2014 to break his maiden, is now it’s first graded stakes winner, going to the lead in the $108,100 Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs and staying there all the way, easing away late to score by a length and three quarters. Two for two, the 2-year-old Indian Charlie has earned $93,422 to date. Revolutionary – WinStar Farm LLC’s Revolutionary took a couple of tries to get the idea, but the $235,000 OBS March graduate tried two turns for the first time in a $67,000 maiden special weight test at Aqueduct on December 28, moved to the leaders approaching the top of the stretch then drew off with ease, hitting the wire in front by 8-1/2 lengths. Travesura – Val-U-Chem Inc.’s Travesura tried stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s $100,000 Miesque Stakes (G3) on the turf at Hollywood Park and went wire to wire, scoring by half a length at odds of 11-1. Unlimited Budget – Repole Stables’ Unlimited Budget, a winner in her long awaited debut on November 9, stepped right into Aqueduct’s $250,000 Demoiselle Stakes (G3) on November 24, took the lead at the break and never looked back en route to a 1-1/4 length victory.  Really Mr Greely – Karl Watson, Mike Pegram and Paul Weitman’s Really Mr. Greely grabbed the lead at the start of the $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (G3) on Thanksgiving Day and never let go, holding off a late run by fellow OBS graduate Super Ninety Nine (June ’12) to win by half a length. It’s the second straight win and first stakes score for the two-time OBS graduate, sold first by Kelli Mitchell, Agent, at the 2011 August Yearling Sale before bringing $40,000 when purchased out of the Thoroughbred Friends and Associates consignment at the 2012 April Sale. Racing, Dave Kenney and RAP Racing’s Goldencents took the lead at the start of the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (G3) on November 17 and held it all the way, easing away in the final furlong to a 1-3/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Into Mischief, sold for $62,000 by Southern Chase Farm (Greg and Karen Dodd), Agent, at the 2012 OBS June Sale. Rose to Gold – Kathleen Amaya and Raffaele Centofani’s Rose to Gold was on or near the lead all the way in the $500,000 Delta Downs Princess Stakes (G3) on November 17 before edging away in the final yards and winning her first graded stakes race by half a length. The 2-year-old Friends Lake filly, who began her career with two runaway stakes wins at Calder, is now 4-3-0-0 and has earned $372,869 to date. Notacatbutallama – Repole Stable’s Notacatbutallama saved ground in the early going of Aqueduct’s $80,000 Super Mario Stakes on November 23, found a seam to run through after turning for home and bounded away to a 3-1/2 length victory. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Harlan’s Holiday, now 6-3-2-0 with earnings of $191,000. Spring in the Air – John Oxley’s Spring in the Air moved into contention on the far turn in Keeneland’s $400,000 Alcibiades Stakes (G1) on the meet’s opening day, then ran past the leaders in the final furlong to score by a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old daughter of Spring at Last, second to fellow OBS graduate Spring Venture (June ’12) in Woodbine’s Natalama Stakes (G2) last month. Spring Venture – Stoneway Farm LLC and Gary Barber’s Spring Venture took the overland route in Woodbine’s Mazarine Stakes (G3) on October 6, but losing ground made little difference as the 2-year-old old daughter of Spring At Last took charge after turning for home and pulled away to a length and a half victory. Executiveprivilege – Karl Watson, Mike Pegram & Paul Weitman’s unbeaten Executiveprivilege tried two turns for the first time in the $250,000 Chandelier Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita on September 29. No problem. The 2-year-old daughter of First Samurai went to the lead, pulled away after half a mile and widened from there, scoring by 6-1/4 lengths over fellow OBS graduate Scarlet Strike (March ’12), with Miss Empire (March ’12) completing the OBS trifecta. Rolling Fog –  Arnold Zetcher’s Rolling Fog was overlooked at 7-1 going into the $300,000 Del Mar Futurity (G1), but the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Posse stayed close to the lead in the early going, took over turning for home and eased away to a length and a quarter victory. The gray or roan colt is a three-time OBS graduate, consigned by Tara Stables LLC, Agent, to the 2010 October Sale before Tara sold him at the 2011 January Sale. Spurious Precision – As impressive as Klaravich Stables Inc. and William H. Lawrence’s Spurious Precision was in his July 21 debut at Saratoga, it was merely a warmup for his performance in the $200,000 Saratoga Special Stakes (G2) on August 12. Taking the lead at the start and setting the pace with a half in :44 flat, the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by High Cotton drew away in the stretch and coasted to a five length victory. Two for two and a graded stakes winner of $168,000, he’s following in the footsteps of his older stablemate, OBS graduate Currency Swap (March ’11, October ’09). Currency Swap, also by High Cotton, broke his maiden at Saratoga before winning the Hopeful Stakes (G1) in his second start. Hightail – Bluegrass Hall LLC’s Hightail was a maiden going into the $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint on November 2, but the 2-year-old colt by Mineshaft stayed on the rail behind pace-setting fellow OBS graduate Merit Man (April ’12, October ’10), then drove inside and outfought Merit Man to the wire to win his first race by a nose. Purchased by trainer D. Wayne Lukas on behalf Brad Kelley’s Bluegrass Hall for $345,000 from Wavertree Stables, Inc. Miss Empire – Gary & Cecil Barber and Kevin Tsujihara’s Miss Empire added Golden Gate’s $100,000 Pike Place Dancer Stakes to her resume on October 28, taking the early lead, turning for home in front, then coming again when passed in mid-stretch to win by a neck. D’nied Permission  – F. Muro, W. Cheekes, L. Ferrentino and Calascibetta Racing Stable’s D’nied Permission rallied to gain the lead late in the $125,000 Florida Stallion Affirmed Stakes on August 25, then held off a late charge to win by a neck at odds of 21-1. Tree of Life –  West Point Thoroughbreds’ Tree of Life is two for two and a stakes winner after a three quarter length victory in the $100,495 Barretts Juvenile Stakes at Fairplex Park on September 16. The 2-year-old Lion Heart colt was sold for $60,000 by Hunter Valley Farm at the 2011 OBS August Sale. He has earned $97,550 to date.

Unhedged – Klaravich Stables Inc. & William H. Lawrence’s Unhedged is three for three and a stakes winner after taking the lead turning for home in the $100,000 Presque Isle Debutante Stakes on September 29 then holding off the late charge of fellow OBS grad Tiny Bear (April ’12, August ’11, January ’11) to win by a neck. Sold for $10,000 by Summerfield, Agent For Westbury Stables, at the 2010 OBS October Sale, the 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Broken Vow has earned $114,600 to date.

Archwarrior – Alto Racing LLC’s Archwarrior had little trouble living up to his advance billing, pulling away in the stretch of Saratoga’s third race on August 30 and winning his debut by 3-1/4 lengths over fellow OBS graduate Malachite (April ’12). After tracking the early leaders down the backstretch, the 2-year-old son of Arch moved up on the turn, hit the front after turning for home and finished six furlongs under a hand ride in 1:10 flat. He was sold for $375,000 by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video

Best Warrior – Yukio Baba’s Best Warrior got his career off on the right foot on November 10, scoring in an $87,500 maiden race at Kyoto Racecourse in Japan in his first trip to the post. Narvick International purchased the 2-year-old colt by Majestic Warrior for $400,000 out of the Harris Training Center consignment at the 2012 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

Unlimited Budget – It took Repole Stables’ Unlimited Budget until November 9 to get to the races, but it was well worth the wait. The 2-year-old Florida-bred Street Sense filly took charge of a $67,000 one mile maiden special weight test at Aqueduct after half a mile, then opened up down the lane and scored by 9-1/2 lengths. She brought $475,000 when sold by breeder Ocala Stud at the 2012 OBS March Sale. watch her under tack video

Capo BastoneEclipse Thoroughbreds Partners’ Capo Bastone had one horse beaten after a quarter, but came outside after turning for home and ran by the rest of the field of nine and was up to win his debut in an August 4 maiden special weight test at Del Mar by a neck. A Shin Summit – Eishindo Inc.’s A Shin Summit took charge of his first trip to the post right out of the gate and led all the way, breaking his maiden at Kyoto Racecourse in Japan on October 21 by 2-1/4 lengths and earning $88,607. Z Big Apple – Zayat Stables, LLC’s Z Big Apple scored at first asking in a 5-1/2 furlong Santa Anita maiden special weight test on October 20, tracking fellow OBS graduate Russdiculous (June ’12) before catching and passing him in the final furlong and winning by three quarters of a length, with Najran Breeze (April ’12, August ’11) competing an OBS trifecta. The winner is a 2-year-old colt by Malibu Moon, and was sold for $250,000 by Paul Sharp, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

Imwiththeblonde – Hronis Racing LLC’s Imwiththeblonde went to the lead at Santa Anita in a 5-1/2 furlong maiden special for fillies on October 21 and led all the way, scoring by 4-1/2 lengths over fellow OBS graduate Lady Rosamond (April “12, August ‘11). A 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Montbrook, Imwiththeblonde was sold for $190,000 by breeder Ocala Stud at the 2012 OBS March Sale. watch her under tack video

Super Ninety Nine – Tanma Corporation’s Super Ninety Nine scored at first asking in a maiden special weight test at Santa Anita on October 7, easing away down the lane to win by a length and a quarter. Fly Again – Windmill Manor Farm’s Fly Again was overlooked at 25-1 in her debut in the seventh race at Belmont on September 8 and trailed the field after a quarter mile of the $68,000 seven furlong maiden special on the turf course. But the 2-year-old daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2012 OBS April Sale, circled the field, made the lead in the final sixteenth and drew off to a 2-1/2 length victory. watch her under tack video

Fly Bye Pomeroy – At Saratoga on July 30, Blue Devil Racing Stable’s Fly Bye Pomeroy came from off the pace to win a maiden special by a length in his first try. The Florida-bred colt by Pomeroy was consigned to OBS March by Scanlon Training Center, Agent. watch his under tack video

Indiano Jones– John C. Oxley’s Indiano Jones put the lessons learned in a troubled debut to good use in an August 19 maiden special test at Woodbine, staying close to the lead before taking charge a furlong from home and reporting home a handy winner by a length and a quarter. Jocosity – The dictionary defines jocosity as “joking  or jesting” and his backers laughed all the way down the stretch as Let’s Go Stable’s Jocosity rolled to an eight length victory in a maiden special at Saratoga on August 3. After pressing a wicked pace in :21 3/5 and :44 4/5, the bay colt by Sharp Humor took over and extended his lead with every stride, stopping the timer in a quick 1:02 4/5 for the 5-1/2 furlong maiden special weight test for two-year-olds. Sold for $210,000 by W.D. North Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale, the stakes placed son of Sharp Humor is now 3-1-2-0 and has earned $90,576. watch his under tack video

Kinz Funky Monkey – Always Believe Inc.’s Kinz Funky Monkey pressed the pace in a $71,400 Del Mar special weight test on September 1, took the lead in the final sixteenth and won by a neck. It was the second start for the 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of The Green Monkey, who brought $82,000 when sold by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds at the 2012 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

MechayaDoubledown Stables, Inc.’s Mechaya zipped 5-1/2 furlongs in 1:03 flat to win her debut by two lengths in a Del Mar maiden special on August 10. The 2-year-old daughter of City Zip was sold for $240,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale. Read the Proposal – Klaravich Stables Inc. and William H. Lawrence’s Read the Proposal took the lead at the break of a mile and a sixteenth maiden special weight test on the turf at Saratoga on August 11 and improved his position from there, rolling to an 8-1/2 length victory. Scarlet Strike– John Carver, Jerry Hollendorfer & Green Smith’s Scarlet Strike stretched out to a mile in a $71,750 maiden special weight test at Del Mar on September 2, rallied between horses in the final sixteenth and won by half a length. Summer of Fun – Bona Venture Stables’ 2012 OBS March graduate Summer of Fun is enjoying the season at Saratoga, scoring by a neck in her second start in a 1-1/16 mile maiden special weight race on the grass on August 25. Truly Marie – Ike and  Dawn Thrash’s Truly Marie, a solid fourth in her July debut, went to the lead in Del Mar’s seventh race on August 19 and never looked back, opening a big lead before cruising home to a one length victory. The 2-year-old filly by Hard Spun ran 5-1/2 furlongs in 1:03 flat in the maiden special weight test. She was sold for $50,000 by Four Star Sales, Agent for Glencrest Farm LLC, at the 2011 OBS August Sale.
