Yes I Am Free wins the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint

Golden Kernel Racing Stable’s Yes I Am Free defended his title in Saturday’s $125,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint (G3), leading from the start, turning back a stretch challenge from fellow OBS graduate Carotari (April ’18) and scoring by half a length.  It’s the fourth stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Uncaptured, consigned by Hawk’s Nest LLC to the 2018 OBS June Sale, and sold for $135,000 after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. Now 25-11-2-3 for trainer Laura Cazares, he has earned $553,994.  watch his under tack video

 

Two OBS grads posted stakes wins at Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday.

Team Equistaff, LLC. and Winning Stables, Inc.’s Dreaming of Snow, ignored at 38-1 in the $150,000 Suncoast Stakes, led from the start, battled champion Wonder Wheel head to head in the final furlong and was best by a neck at the wire. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Jess’s Dream, now 5-3-0-0 for trainer Gerald Bennett with $170,850 in earnings. A two-time OBS graduate, she was sold by Bobby Jones Equine at the 2021 October Selected Yearling Sale and then purchased for $60,000 out of the Boutte Sales consignment at the 2022 March Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.  watch her under tack video     March Sale walking video

My Purple Haze Stables’ Drifaros set a rapid pace in the $50,000 Minaret Stakes, then eased away in the final furlong to score by a length and a quarter. It’s the fourth straight win and first stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Kantharos, purchased for $25,000 out of the Niall Brennan Stables consignment at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale.
