Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’s Speaking Scout, off the pace early in Del Mar’s $400,000 Hollywood Derby (G1), found room between horses a furlong from home, and was up in deep stretch to score by three quarters of a length over fellow OBS graduate Spycatcher (April ’21). It’s the first graded stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Mr Speaker, purchased for $3,000 out of the Bobby Jones Equine consignment at the 2020 OBS October Sale.
