Havnameltdown scores in Del Mar’s Bob Hope Stakes

Michael E. Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman’s Havnameltdown, forced out early in Sunday’s $100,000 Bob Hope Stakes (G3) at Del Mar, took over a half mile out and cruised from there to victory by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Practical Move (April ’22) checked in third. It’s the second graded stakes win for 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Uncaptured, a two-time OBS graduate, sold first by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2021 October Yearling Sale and then purchased for $200,000 out of the Blas Perez Stables consignment at the 2022 Spring Sale after breezing an Under Tack in :9 4/5. Lael Stables’ Navy Goat led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Gulfstream’s $60,000 Juvenile Fillies Stakes on Saturday, overcoming a rough start, taking charge on the inside turning for home, drawing away late and scoring by 2-1/2 lengths. Oh Darlin (April ’22) was second with Luck in the Dusk (January ’21) settling for third. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Navy Mule, trained by Arnaud Delacour, now 3-2-0-1 with $89,956 in earnings. She’s a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Boutte Sales at the 2021 October Selected Yearling sale and then purchased for $450,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2022 Spring Sale after breezing an Under Tac k eighth in :10 1/5.
