Scaramouche, Lucky Score post weekend graded stakes wins

Nicholas Cammarano, Jr.’s Scaramouche stumbled at the start of the $300,000 Gallant Bob Stakes (G2) on Saturday at Parx Racing, took charge on the turn, then drew away to score by 5-1/2 lengths. It’s the second stakes victory for the 3-year-old son of Munnings, purchased for $20,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2021 OBS June Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Domenic Liscio and Danny Iandoli’s Lucky Score trailed early in Sunday’s $180,000 Vigil Stakes (G3) at Woodbine, but circled horses on the turn, took command a sixteenth out and scored by a length and a quarter. It’s the first stakes victory for the 4-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky, trained by W. V. Armata, now 12-5-2-1 with earnings of $291,737. Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, Peter Searles and Patty Searles’ City Man stalked the leaders in the early going of Saturday’s $125,000 Ashley T. Cole Stakes at Belmont at Aqueduct, took the lead after turning for home and was best by three quarters of a length at the wire. That’s six stakes wins for the graded stakes winning 5-year-old son of Mucho Macho Man, trained by Christophe Clement, now 24-7-5-3 with earnings of $761,800. He was sold to Reeves Thoroughbreds for $185,000 by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, at the 2019 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

William Branch’s Carotari went right to the front in the $100,000 Laurel Dash Stakes at Pimlico and stayed there to the finish, hanging on gamely to score by a nose. It’s the sixth stakes win for the 6-year-old graded stakes placed gelding by Artie Schiller, trained by Brian Lynch, now 28-10-6-3 with earnings of $683,363. Michael E. Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman’s Hard to Figure was a maiden before Sunday’s $75,000 Capote Stakes at Los Alamitos but a stakes winner at the finish, drawing away late to score by three lengths. The 2-year-old son of Hard Spun was purchased for $200,000 out of the GOP Racing Stable Corp. consignment at the 2022 OBS March Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Rick Wiest, Clayton Wiest, Lana Wiest and Gary Kropp’s Soy Tapatio, second early in Century Mile’s $50,000 Don Getty Handicap, took the lead on the turn and romped from there to a 7-1/4 length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old gelding by Not This Time, trained by Robertino Diodoro , leaving him with a 14-4-0-3 career record and $185,845 in earnings.
