Boardroom best in Woodbine’s Royal North Stakes

LNJ Foxwoods’ Boardroom sat just off the pace in Saturday’s $175,000 Royal North
Stakes (G2) at Woodbine, rallied on the outside down the stretch and was best by a neck at the wire. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Commissioner, consigned to the 2019 OBS April Sale by Q Bar J Thoroughbreds LLC, where she was sold to Solis / Litt for $475,000 after speeding an Under Tack quarter in :20 1/5. Dublin Fjord Stables LLC, Racepoint Stables, Kevin D. Hilbert, and Thomas E. O’Keefe’s Drafted trailed early in Monmouth’s $106,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes, circled horses to reach contention and closed relentlessly to get up and score by three quarters of a length. It’s the second straight stakes victory for 8-year-old multiple graded stakes winning Florida-bred son of Field Commission, who went through the rig at the 2015 August Sale before he was purchased for $35,000 out of the Kim Harrison consignment at the 2016 March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Doubledown Stables, Inc. War At Sea led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the Santa Anita’s $100,000 Desert Stormer Stakes, tracking the pace set by fellow OBS graduate Beef Winslow (June ’21, October ’20), taking the lead a furlong from home and scoring by three quarters of a length over Cabo Spirit (April ’21). It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old son of War Front, trained by Ron Ellis, now 8-3-0-3 with $170,780 in earnings. Joseph E. Besecker’s Bazinga C scored her first stakes win in the $75,000 New Start Stakes at Penn National, rallying from off the pace, taking charge in the stretch and scoring by a length and three quarters. The 3-year-old daughter of Exaggerator, trained by Timothy C. Kreiser, is now 9-5-2-0 and has earned $188,056. She was purchased for $62,000 out of the Sennebec South Farm consignment at the 2020 OBS October Yearling Sale.
