H & E Ranch, Inc.’s Desert Dawn tracked the pace in Saturday’s $400,000 Santa Anita Oaks (G2), moved to the leaders a quarter mile out, battled fellow OBS graduate Adare Manor (June ’21) head to head down the stretch and prevailed by a neck at the wire. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Cupid, who went through the ring, consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent for H & E Ranch, at the 2020 OBS October Selected Yearling Sale. Trained by Philip D’Amato, she’s now 7-2-0-2 and has earned $378,400. October Sale walking video

Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, Peter Searles and Patty Searles’ City Man saved ground in the early going of Aqueduct’s $100,000 Danger’s Hour Stakes, swung out to find room and take the lead in the stretch and was best by 2-1/4 lengths. It’s the fourth stakes win for the graded stakes placed 5-year-old son of Mucho Macho Man, sold to Reeves Thoroughbreds for $185,000 by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, at the 2019 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Christophe Clement, he’s now 19-5-4-3 and earned $543,550 to date. watch his under tack video
