Breeze Rider best in the Jersey Lilly Turf Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park

Mike Piazza Racing Stable LLC’s Breeze Rider took the lead at the start of Sam Houston Race Park’s $75,000 Jersey Lilly Turf Stakes on Sunday, set a pressured pace, then held off a late challenge and scored by three quarters of a length. Fellow OBS graduate Arm Candy (March ’20) settled for third. It’s the third stakes victory for the 5-year-old daughter of Paynter, purchased for $30,000 out of the SBM Training & Sales consignment at the 2019 OBS June Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by Steve Manley, she’s now 26-12-3-2 and has earned $397,728 to date.  watch her under tack video

Jeremy Ramsland’s Miss Hard Knocks circled horses on the turn after an unhurried beginning in Sunday’s $65,000 Borderplex Stakes at Sunland Park, sustained her rally down the stretch and was up in the final yards to win by a neck. It was the stakes debut for the 3-year-old daughter of Mr Speaker, trained by Bart Hone, now 4-2-1-1 with earnings of $59,670. Consigned by Gutierrez Sales to the 2021 OBS March Sale, she was purchased for $17,000 by Jeremy Ramsland after breezing an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
