God of Love wins Woodbine’s Grey Stakes

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gary Barber’s God of Love, far off the pace and wide early in Sunday’s $174,800 Grey Stakes (G3) at Woodbine, circled horses on the turn to reach contention, drove to the lead in deep stretch and drew away late to score by a length and a half. It’s the second stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Cupid, the first graded winner for his sire, consigned to the 2021 OBS March Sale by Golden Thoroughbreds Training and Sales, and sold for $100,000 after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Perry Harrison’s Change of Control sat just off the lead in the $100,000 Autumn Days Stakes on Sunday at Aqueduct, took command a furlong from home and was best by three quarters of a length at the wire. That’s five stakes wins for the multiple graded stakes winning 5-year-old daughter of Fed Biz, trained by Michelle Lovell, now 31-9-6-6 with $739,275 in earnings. Mike Piazza Racing Stable LLC’s Breeze Rider scored her first stakes win in the Joseph R. Peluso Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds on Thanksgiving Day, setting the pace, shaking off a challenge at the head of the stretch and holding on to win by a neck. The 4-year-old filly by Paynter was purchased for $30,000 out of the SBM Training & Sales consignment at the 2019 OBS June Sales after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. A pair of OBS graduates earned “TDN Rising Star” status over the holiday weekend.

On Saturday at Aqueduct, Augustin Stable’s Send for Me led all the way and scored by seven lengths in her debut for trainer Jonathan Thomas. At Churchill Downs on Saturday, trainer Kenny McPeek sent out Dixiana Farms LLC’s Cocktail Moments for her debut and the 2-year-old Uncle Mo filly came from off the pace to blow past the leaders in the stretch and win by 9-1/4 lengths.
