Special Reserve scores in Keeneland’s Phoenix Stakes

Paradise Farms Corp. and David Staudacher’s Special Reserve punched his ticket to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) in Friday’s $250,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G2) at Keeneland, pressing the pace, taking charge after turning for home and holding off a strong late run to score by a head. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Midshipman, trained by Mike Maker, now 22-8-2-7 with $638,647 in earnings. Consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, to the 2018 OBS March Sale, he breezed an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5 before he was sold for $140,000. watch his under tack video:

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gary Barber’s God of Love, off to a troubled start in the $251,200 Cup and Saucer Stakes on Sunday at Woodbine, rallied on the outside in the turn and down the stretch, took command a sixteenth from home and scored by a length and three quarters. Unplaced in his September debut for trainer Mark Casse, the 2-year-old by Cupid is now 2-1-0-0 and has earned $120,586.
