War Like Goddess posts fourth straight; Spring Sale topper scores in debut

George Krikorian’s War Like Goddess secured a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) with a 2-1/4 length victory in Saratoga’s $600,000 Flower Bowl Stakes on Saturday. Unhurried in the early going, she closed in on the turn, swung out for the drive and swept past the leaders with ease. It’s the fourth straight graded stakes win for 4-year-old daughter of English Channel, consigned to the 2019 OBS June Sale by Hemingway Racing and Training Stables, and sold for $30,000 after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Speedway Stables LLC’s Corniche, the 2021 OBS Spring Sale topper, get his career off to a flying start in his debut at Del Mar on Saturday. He opened daylight out of the gate in a $72,500 maiden special weight dash and never looked back on his way to a 4-1/4 length victory, running the 5-1/2 furlongs in a snappy 1:03 flat for trainer Bob Baffert. The 2-year-old son of Quality Road was consigned to the Spring Sale by de Meric Sales, Agent, and breezed an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show before he was purchased for $1,500,000 by Speedway Stables. watch his under tack video     Spring Sale walking video

Gary Barber’s Liam’s Dove, a maiden dismissed at 30-1 in Sunday’s $103,000 Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes, went right to the front, opened daylight in the stretch and held off a late charge to score by a head. Marc Keller’s Pulsate got the holiday weekend off to a good start on Friday, tracking early leaders in Saratoga’s $120,000 Lucky Coin Stakes, reaching the lead inside the final furlong and battling to victory by a neck. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Speightstown, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased for $280,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2018 OBS Spring Sale. Now 17-4-4-2 for trainer Robert Ribaudo, he has earned $307,655 to date. watch his under tack video
