Cross Border scores in Saratoga’s Bowling Green Stakes

Three Diamonds Farm’s Cross Border successfully defended his title in Saratoga’s $250,000 Bowling Green Stakes (G2) on Saturday, sitting just behind the leaders in the early going, swinging out for the drive, taking command a furlong from home and scoring by a length and a quarter.  It’s the third Saratoga stakes win for the 7-year-old ridgling by English Channel, consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, to the 2016 OBS June Sale, and sold for $10,000 after breezing a quarter in :22 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Mike Maker, he’s now 35-10-8-4 and has earned $948,821 to date. watch his under tack video

Jeff Drown and Don Rachel’s Founder picked up his first stakes victory on Saturday in Monmouth’s $102,000 Tale of the Cat Stakes, charging on the outside down the stretch, taking over inside the eighth pole and winning by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Hot Blooded (October ’19) checked in third. Now 7-2-1-1 with earnings of $139,522 for trainer Chad Brown, the 3-year-old ridgling by Upstart, turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat before he was purchased for $600,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2020 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video     March Sale walking video

Champion Equine LLC’s My Sassenach broke her maiden with a flourish in Saturday’s $100,000 FTBOA Florida Sire Desert Vixen Stakes at Gulfstream, stalking the early leaders, taking over after turning for home and bounding away to score by 8-1/4 lengths, with fellow OBS graduate Rufa Red Knot (October ’20) settling for third. It was the second start for the 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Uncaptured, sold for $152,000 by Craig L. Wheeler, Agent, at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by J.
