OBS grads post a pair of stakes wins at Canterbury

OBS graduates scored a pair of stakes wins at Canterbury Park on Wednesday night.

Dennis F. Smith’s Jazzy Times saved ground in the early going of the $110,000 Dark Star Turf Sprint Stakes, came off the rail to rally on the outside down the stretch and was up late to score by a head. Fellow OBS graduate Wellabled (April’16) settled for third after setting the pace. It’s the second stakes win for the graded stakes placed 8-year-old gelding by Discreetly Mine, purchased for $460,000 out of the SGV consignment at the 2015 OBS March Sale by Patrice Miller, EQB Inc., Agent, after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :20 3/5. Trained by David Van Winkle, he’s now 42-6-12-4 and has earned $485,680 to date. watch his under tack video

Peachtree Stable’s Saranya pressed the pace in the $100,000 Curtis Sampson Oaks, wore down the leaders to take charge inside the eighth pole and held off a late run by fellow OBS graduate Amalfi Princess (April ’20) to win by a neck. It’s the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old daughter of The Factor, trained by Brad Cox, now 8-3-3-1 with earnings of $178,980. Consigned to the 2020 OBS Spring Sale by Eisaman Equine, Agent, she was sold for $320,000 after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video   Spring Sale walking video
