LNJ Foxwoods’ Boardroom sat just off the pace in Saturday’s $156,000 Whimsical Stakes (G3) at Woodbine, took the lead turning for home, fought off rivals on both sides down the stretch and was best by a neck at the wire. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Commissioner, consigned to the 2019 OBS April Sale by Q Bar J Thoroughbreds LLC, where she was sold to Solis / Litt for $475,000 after speeding an Under Tack quarter in :20 1/5. R. Larry Johnson’s Can’t Buy Love led a 1-2-3 sweep of Woodbine’s $125,200 Star Shoot Stakes, overcoming a rough start and rallying down the stretch to get up late and beat Dirty Dangle (March ’20) by three quarters of a length, with California Lily (June ’20, March ’20) a nose back in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Twirling Candy filly, trained by Mike Trombetta, now 9-3-1-1 with $119,493 in earnings. Thomas C. Albrecht, Vincent J. Fusaro and James Klein’s Ocala Dream jumped from a maiden win into Belmont’s $150,000 New York Stallion Stakes on Saturday, took command after turning for home, shook off fellow OBS graduate Barrage (March ’20) a furlong out and scored by a length. Barrage checked in third. Trained by Thomas Morley, the 3-year-old colt by Effinex is now 5-2-0-1 and has earned $137,600. Monster Racing Stables’ The Critical Way pressed the pace in Monmouth’s $76,500 Get Serious Stakes, took over after turning for home and drew away down the stretch to score by three lengths. It’s the fourth stakes victory for the 7-year-old son of Tizway, purchased for $75,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2016 OBS June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Starship Stables and Steven Dwoskin’s Starship Nterprise stepped into stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s $75,000 Martha Washington Stakes at Gulfstream, found room between horses in the stretch and closed to beat fellow OBS graduate Karakatsie (April ’20) by a neck. Purchased for $40,000 out of the Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck) consignment at the 2019 October Selected Yearling Sale, the 3-year-old daughter of Honor Code, trained by Steven Dwoskin, is now 10-2-3-2 and has earned $96,485.
