Madone scores in Santa Anita’s Senorita Stakes

Kaleem Shah, Inc.’s Madone got her 3-year-old campaign off to a good start in the $102,500 Senorita Stakes (G3) on Sunday at Santa Anita. Despite stumbling at the start, the daughter of Vancouver (AUS) stalked the early leaders, came out for the drive, made the lead at the sixteenth pole and was clear by a length at the wire. Now 5-4-0-0 with three stakes wins for trainer Simon Callaghan, she has earned $211,300 to date. At the 2020 OBS March Sale, she was sold to K S I, Ben McElroy, Agent, for $125,000 by Kirkwood Stables, Agent, after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch her under tack video

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Joseph F. Graffeo, Eric Nikolaus Del Toro and Troy Johnson’s Con Lima pressed the pace in the early going of Saturday’s $75,000 Honey Ryder Stakes at Gulfstream, took command a furlong from home and drew off to win by four lengths over fellow OBS graduate Karakatsie (April ’20). It’s the third stakes victory for the 3-year-old filly by Commissioner, consigned by Niall Brennan Stables to the 2020 OBS March Sale, where she went through the ring after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by Todd Pletcher, she’s now 10-5-4-0 and has earned $269,865.  watch her under tack video

Steven Dwoskin’s Choose Joy scored her first stakes victory at Gulfstream on Sunday in the $60,000 Golden Beach Handicap, trailing early, circling horses into the stretch and drawing clear late to win by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Miss Auramet (April ’18, October ’17) set the pace and settled for third. The 4-year-old filly by Munnings, trained by her owner, is now 9-4-1-0 and has earned $119,945. Consigned to the 2019 OBS June Sale by S G V Thoroughbreds LLC (Steven Venosa), Agent, she was purchased by Mr. Dwoskin for $35,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.  watch her under tack video
