War Like Goddess wins Keeneland’s Bewitch Stakes

George Krikorian’s lightly raced War Like Goddess got the weekend off to a good start at Keeneland on Friday in the $150,000 Bewitch Stakes (G3). Far back early, she swung out for the drive, blew past the field to take command a furlong from home, then drew off late to win by 3-3/4 lengths. It’s the second straight graded stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of English Channel, trained by Bill Mott, now 5-4-0-0 with earnings of $246,184. Consigned to the 2019 OBS June Sale by Hemingway Racing and Training Stables, she was sold for $30,000 after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. watch her under tack video

West Point Thoroughbreds and Marvin Delfiner’s Jaxon Traveler got back on the winning track at Oaklawn Park on Saturday in the $200,000 Bachelor Stakes, leading from gate to wire and scoring by 2-3/4 lengths. That’s two stakes wins for 3-year-old colt by Munnings, At the 2020 OBS Spring Sale, he was sold for $140,000 to L.E.B., Agent for West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. by Grassroots Training & Sales LLC after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Flanagan Racing’s The Reds was awarded victory via disqualification in Pimlico’s $125,000 Federico Tesio Stakes on Saturday after being bothered in the stretch and finishing second by a head. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Tonalist, purchased for $130,000 by John C. Kimmel, Agent for Sean Flanagan, out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2020 OBS Spring Sale after an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. LRE Racing LLC and JEH Racing LLC’s Casa Creed circled horses on the turn to reach contention in Saturday’s $100,000 Elusive Quality Stakes at Belmont, rallied on the outside down the stretch and was up in the final strides to score by a head. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Jimmy Creed, now 19-4-3-3 with $535,408 in earnings for trainer Bill Mott. He was purchased for $15,000 out of the Janie Roper consignment at the 2017 OBS Winter Mixed Sale.

 

 

Peter Redekop B. C. Ltd.’s Anyportinastorm sat just off the leaders in the early going of Saturday’s $75,000 Lost in the Fog Stakes at Golden Gate, reached the front passing the eighth pole then drew off late to a 3-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes score for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of City Zip, trained by Peter Miller, now 20-9-2-5 with $360,925 in earnings. He was sold for $320,000 by de Meric Sales, Agent for Golden Legacy Stables, at the 2016 OBS April Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. watch his under tack video

Shea D. Boy’s Stable’s Bank On Shea took the lead at start of Friday’s $100,000 Affirmed Success Stakes at Belmont Park and never looked back en route to a one length victory. That’s two stakes wins for the 4-year-old colt by Central Banker colt, now 6-4-1-1 with $450,000 in earnings for trainer J. Tyler Servis. He turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before he was purchased for $110,000 out of the Niall Brennan Stables consignment at the 2019 April Sale. watch his under tack video

 

 

Mark Norman and Norman Stables LLC’s Shes Our Fastest picked up her sixth stakes victory in the $75,000 Bluebonnet Stakes at Lone Star Park on Thursday. The 6-year-old daughter of Oratory, pressed the pace early, took charge turning for home and bounded away late to score by eighth lengths. Trained by Scott Gelner, she’s now 33-9-7-7 and has earned $414,177 to date. At the 2017 OBS June Sale, she breezed an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat before she was purchased for $50,000 out of the Stephens Thoroughbreds consignment. watch her under tack video
