OBS April graduates enjoyed a big day on Saturday, scoring in two stakes at Fair Grounds and winning stakes at Aqueduct and Gulfstream.

Robert E. and Lawana L. Low’s Colonel Liam rated off the pace early in $300,000 Muniz Memorial Classic Stakes (G2), came around horses to reach contention turning for home, wore down the leader to take charge a sixteenth from home and was best by a length and a half. It’s the second straight graded stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Liam’s Map, who turned in an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 before he was purchased for $1,200,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2019 OBS April Sale. Now 7-5-0-1 for trainer Todd Pletcher, he has earned $870,965 to date. watch his under tack video

Magnifico LLC and Hubert Guy’s unbeaten Australasia scored her third stakes win in the $100,000 Crescent City Oaks, pressing the pace, taking command a quarter mile out and easing away to a 2-3/4 length victory. The 3-year-old daughter of Sky Kingdom, trained by Brad Cox, is four for four and has earned $193,200. Consigned by Woodside Ranch, Agent, to the 2020 OBS April Sale, she was sold for $130,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.  watch her under tack video  Spring Sale walking video

Woodside Ranch was also involved with Holly Hill Stable’s Pacific Gale, who relaxed just off the lead in the early going of Gulfstream’s $100,000 Hurricane Bertie Stakes (G3), came out for the drive, took charge a furlong from home and drew away to win by 3-1/2 lengths. It’s the second straight graded stakes win for the 6-year-old mare by Flat Out, trained by John Kimmel, now 29-5-6-5 with earnings of $570,310. A two-time OBS graduate, she was sold by Stuart Morris, Agent, at the 2016 Selected Yearling Sale before she was resold for $72,000 by Woodside Ranch, Agent, at the 2017 April Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch her under tack video  Selected Sale conformation photo

Ken Russell, Brown Road Racing and Raymond Handal’s Just Read It battled fellow OBS graduate Exogen (October ’19, January ’19) down the stretch in Aqueduct’s $100,000 Cicada Stakes and was best by a head at the wire. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old filly by Constitution, a two-time OBS graduate. She went through the ring at the 2020 April Sale before she was purchased for $70,000 out of the McKathan Bros. consignment at the 2020 June Sale after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5. Now 4-2-0-0 for trainer Raymond Handal, she has earned $104,450 to date. watch her under tack video 

Xtreme Racing Stables LLC’s Sir Wellington came around horses to take the lead in Oaklawn’s $150,000 Gazebo Stakes, opened daylight in the stretch then held off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate Jaxon Traveler (April ’20) to score by a head.  It’s the second stakes victory for the 3-year-old colt by Palace, trained by McLean Robertson, now 6-3-2-0 with earnings of $203,370.  He was purchased for $35,000 out of the Stuart Morris consignment at the 2019 OBS Selected Yearling Sale.
