C Z Rocket scores in Oaklawn’s Hot Springs Stakes

Gary Barber, Tom Kagele and Madaket Stables LLC’s C Z Rocket was last of seven early in Oaklawn’s $200,000 Hot Springs Stakes, but rallied on the outside down the stretch and was up in time to catch Sprint champion Whitmore and score by a neck. It’s the fourth stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred son of City Zip, trained by Peter Miller, now 24-10-2-2 and the latest OBS millionaire with $1,011,641 in earnings. He turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before he was purchased out of the Stephens Thoroughbred consignment at the 2016 OBS June Sale for a then sale record $800,000. watch his under tack video

William Branch’s Carotari defended his title in Gulfstream’s $75,000 Silks Run Stakes, leading from gate to wire and easing away late to win by a length and a quarter. That’s three stakes wins for the 5-year-old gelding by Artie Schiller, consigned to the 2018 OBS Spring Sale by TIP Thoroughbred Investment Possibilities, Agent, where he went through the ring after working an eighth in :9 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 18-6-5-2 for trainer Brian Lynch, he has earned $377,993 to date.  watch his under tack video
