Ride a Comet, Casa Creed one-two in Gulfstream’s Tropical Turf Stakes

John C. Oxley and My Meadowview Farm LLC’s Ride a Comet rallied three-wide on the turn to reach contention in Gulfstream’s $100,000 Tropical Turf Stakes (G3) on Saturday, caught fellow OBS graduate Casa Creed (January ’17) inside the final sixteenth and beat him by half a length. It’s the fourth straight win and third graded stakes score for the 6-year-old son of Candy Ride (ARG), now 13-8-0-1 for trainer Mark Casse, with earnings of $479,084. Consigned by Flying Fish, Agent to the 2017 OBS April Sale, he was sold for $375,000 after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

George Chris Coleman and Brad King’s Into Mystic led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Saturday’s $75,000 Nelson J. Menard Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds, sitting just off pace-setting fellow OBS graduate Elle Z (June ’19), taking over a furlong from home and proving best by a length. Change of Control (October ’17) ran evenly for third. It’s the second stakes victory for the 5-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, purchased for $650,000 out of the Paul Sharp consignment at the 2018 OBS Spring Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Baoma Corporation’s Qahira circled horses on the turn in Santa Anita’s $78,350 Kalookan Queen Stakes on Sunday, took command after straightening away in the stretch and scored by a length. It’s the first stakes win for the graded stakes placed 5-year-old mare by Cairo Prince, now 8-5-1-0 with earnings of $205,400 for trainer Bob Baffert. She sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 2/5 before she was purchased for $375,000 out of the Price Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2018 OBS June Sale. watch her under tack video
