Baoma Corporation’s Varda trailed early in the $300,500 Starlet Stakes (G1) at Los Alamitos, came wide to go after the leaders in the stretch, reached the front a sixteenth from home and went on to score by a length and a half. It’s the first stakes victory for the 2-year-old daughter of Distorted Humor, trained by Bob Baffert, now 3-2-1-0 with $254,500 in earnings. She sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 at the 2020 Spring Sale before she was purchased out of the Niall Brennan Stables consignment for $700,000 by Donato Lanni, Agent for Baoma Corp. watch her under tack video

Mark Schwartz’s Brooklyn Strong was rated early in the $150,000 Remsen Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct, circled three wide to reach contention turning for home, collared the leader a furlong out and was best by a neck despite being carried out in the lane. It’s the second stakes win for the 2-year-old gelding by Wicked Strong, a two-time OBS graduate. He went through the ring, consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, at the 2019 October Yearling Sale, and then was purchased for $5,000 out of the Coastal Equine consignment at the 2020 Spring Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 4-3-0-1 for trainer Daniel Velazquez, he has earned $195,000 to date. watch his under tack video     Spring Sale walking video
