Majestic Dunhill captures Belmont’s Bold Ruler

R. A. Hill Stable’s Majestic Dunhill came off fence to go after the leader after turning for home in Saturday’s $93,000 Bold Ruler Handicap (G3) at Belmont Park, fought head to head in the final sixteenth and was best by a head at the wire. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Majesticperfection, trained by George Weaver, now 21-5-4-4 with earnings of $373,214. Consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds to the 2017 OBS March Sale, he was sold for $100,000 after speeding a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

 

Al and Bill Ulwelling’s Stephen was a maiden going into Sunday’s $250,000 Coronation Futurity at Woobine, but overcame a slow start, rallied to collar the leader a furlong from home and drew away late to score by a length and a quarter. The 2-year-old colt by Constitution was purchased for $170,000 by Clay Scherer, Agent for Al & Bill Ulwelling, out of the Randy Miles consignment at the 2020 OBS Spring Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Roadrunner Racing and Sayjay Racing LLC’s Strongconstitution led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Del Mar’s $81,500 Let It Ride Stakes on Sunday, slipping through on the inside to take command a sixteenth out then holding off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate Heywoods Beach (June ’19) to win by a head. Lane Way (March ’19) settled for third.  It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old graded stakes placed son of Constitution, now 7-2-2-2 for trainer Doug O’Neill with $135,500 in earnings. Consigned by Grassroots Training & Sales LLC to the 2019 OBS Spring Sale, he was sold for $220,000 after breezing an eighth in:10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Saul J. Kupferberg’s Honor Way stalked the pace from the outside in Sunday’s $77,600 Pumpkin Pie Stakes at Belmont, took charge at the head of the stretch and eased away down the lane to score by 4-1/2 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Pacific Gale (April ’17, August ’16) chased her home and finished second. It’s the first stakes win for the 6-year-old graded stakes placed daughter of Caleb’s Posse, a three-time OBS graduate. After going through the ring at the 2015 August Yearling Sale and the 2016 March Sale, she was sold for $77,000 by All Dreams Equine, Agent, at the 2016 June Sale after breezing three eighths in :33 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.
