Twenty-seven OBS graduates will compete in the Breeders’ Cup

Twenty-seven OBS graduates will compete in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Friday and Saturday at Keeneland.

Five OBS graduates are entered in the $1-million Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2).

Ryan C. Ritt, Jeffrey H. Gasner and Mark Spinazze’s Windy City Red will break from post two under Jose Valdivia for trainer Jonathan Wong. The 2-year-old colt by Chitu, now 2-1-0-1 with earnings of $30,000, comes into the race off a third place finish in Santa Anita’s Speakeasy Stakes after winning at first asking at Golden Gate. He was purchased for $54,000 by Nick J. William L. Heiligbrodt, Corinne Heiligbrodt, Madaket Stables LLC and Spendthrift Farm LLC’s Cowan, trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Ricardo Santana, will leave from post five. Second last time out in Keeneland’s Indian Summer Stakes, the 2-year-old colt by Kantharos is 4-1-1-1 and has earned $125,877 to date. Ironhorse Racing Stable LLC & Secure Investments’ Momos, third in Belmont’s Futurity (G3) and the Saratoga Special (G2), has drawn post seven and will be ridden by Manny Franco for trainer Christophe Clement. The 2-year-old son of Distorted Humor is a two-time OBS, graduate sold by Select Sales, Agent, at the 2019 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased for $180,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the March Sale after an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat. Breeze Easy LLC’s After Five comes into the race off a second place finish in the Futurity (G3) at Belmont. Wesley Ward trains the 2-year-old colt by The Factor and Jose Ortiz will ride from post nine. Sold first by Summerfield Sales at the 2019 October Yearling Sale, he breezed an Under Tack eighth in:9 4/5 and was purchased for$165,000 out of GOP Racing Stable Corp. consignment at the 2020 March Sale. watch his under tack video 

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gary Barber’s Dirty Dangle, one of two fillies in the field, will break from post twelve under Tyler Gaffalione. She comes into the race winning the Woodbine Cares Stakes and makes her first start for trainer Mark Casse. The 2-year-old Not This Time filly worked an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before she was sold for $25,000 by J R Racing Stables, Agent for Brayhan Cruz, at the 2020 March Sale. The lone OBS entrant in the $1-million Juvenile Turf (G1) is ERJ Racing, LLC, Exline-Border Racing LLC and Madaket Stables LLC’s Harlan Estate, drawn as post 16 on the Also Eligible list. The 2-year-old colt by Kantharos, trained by Peter Eurton, has compiled a 3-1-1-0 record to date, scoring on the Santa Anita turf course in his last start. The 9-5 morning line favorite in the $2-million Juvenile Fillies (G1) is Zedan Racing Stables Inc.’s Princess Noor, three for three with two graded stakes wins after an 8-1/2 length romp in the Chandelier Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita. The Del Mar Debutante Stakes (G1) winner was the 2020 Spring Sale topper, purchased by Gary Young for $1,350,000 out of the Top Line Sales consignment after turning in the Under Tack Show’s fastest quarter in :20 1/5. Trained by Bob Baffert, she has earned $303,000 to date. Simon Callaghan sends out Kaleem Shah, Inc.’s unbeaten Madone, three for three with $141,300 in earnings after a score in Santa Anita’s Surfer Girl Stakes. She will start from post nine with regular rider Flavien Prat aboard. GMP Stables LLC and F. Bellavia, LLC’s Union Gables, trained by Todd Pletcher, will break from post 13 under Jose Ortiz. The 2-year-old daughter of Speightstown, second last out in Belmont’s Matron Stakes (G3), has a 3-1-1-1 record and has earned $71,600. Chad Brown sends out Klaravich Stables, Inc.’s Reinvestment Risk, second in the Hopeful (G1) and the Champagne (G1), after a runaway win in his debut at Saratoga. He’ll break from post three under Irad Ortiz. The 2-year-old colt by Upstart, consigned to the 2020 March Sale by de Meric Sales, Agent, sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 before he was purchased by Mike Ryan, Agent, for $280,000. Cypress Creek LLC and Arnold Bennewith’s Dreamer’s Disease will leave from post ten under David Cohen for trainer Robertino Diodoro. A winner of two of his four starts, the 2-year-old colt by Laoban has earned $46,540 to date. Trained by Mike McCarthy, she’ll break from post one and be ridden by Javier Castellano. Ciaglia Racing LLC, Highland Yard LLC, River Oak Farm and Dominic Savides’ Venetian Harbor, second in the Ashland (G1) and second in the Test (G1) at Saratoga, comes in to the race off a victory in Keeneland’s Raven Run (G2). George Chris Coleman and Brad King’s Into Mystic just missed by a nose in Keeneland’s Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes (Gr. 3) last out after taking the Kentucky Downs Preview Ladies Sprint Stakes in August. Trained by Brendan Walsh, she’ll start from post nine under Joe Talamo. The 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, now 13-4-2-3 with $264,523 in earnings, was purchased for $650,000 out of the Paul Sharp consignment at the 2018 Spring Sale after an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. watch her under tack video

Altamira Racing Stable, Rafter JR Ranch LLC, STD Racing Stable and A. Miller’s Texas Wedge got the year off right with a victory in the Joe Hernandez Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita. Crawford Farms Racing’s 2019 OBS Sprint winner Archidust, third last time out in Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational Stakes (Gr. 3) is on the Also Eligible list at post 17. Winner of the Get Serious Stakes at Monmouth in August, he comes into the race with a 15-7-1-4 record and $371,400 in earnings. Ricardo Santana has been named to ride for trainer Steve Asmussen. Two OBS grads will go postward in the $1-million Dirt Mile (G1).

Tom R. Durant’s Silver Dust comes into the race off a third place finish in the Alysheba (G2) at Churchill Downs. The three-time graded stakes winner, trained by Bret Calhoun, has compiled a 30-6-7-5 career record and earned $875,677. Adam Beschizza will ride the 6-year-old gelding by Tapit, breaking from post three.  He was consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, to the 2016 March Sale, and turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5 before he was sold for $510,000. watch his under tack video

Jim & Donna Daniell’s Rushie, winner of Churchill’s Pat Day Mile Stakes (G2), was on the board earlier this year in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) and Blue Grass (G2). The  3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Liam’s Map, trained by Mike McCarthy, comes into the race with a 7-3-1-2 record and $493,151 in earnings. Blue Heaven Farm’s October Sale catalog cover girl Starship Jubilee drew the one post, and looks to cap a sensational season, coming into the race off a victory over the boys September’s Woodbine Mile Stakes (G1). It was the second grade one win for Canada’s reigning Horse of the Year, five for six this year including four graded stakes wins. Florent Geroux will ride the 7-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Indy Wind, a two time OBS graduate, sold by The Acorn at the 2014 August Yearling Sale then consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm to the 2015 April Sale where she went through the ring after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. LRE Racing LLC and JEH Racing LLC’s Casa Creed, third in Saratoga’s Fourstardave (G1) this past summer and made the grade in last year’s National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame Stakes (G2) at the Spa. The 4-year-old son of Jimmy Creed is trained by Bill Mott and will leave from post seven under Junior Alvarado. Purchased for $15,000 out of the Janie Roper consignment at the 2017 Winter Mixed Sale, he’s now 15-3-2-3 and has earned $460,508.

Gaining Ground Racing LLC’s Factor This has won five of his last six trips to the post and comes in off a victory in Pimlico’s Dinner Party Stakes (G2). The 5-year-old gelding by The Factor has four graded stakes wins, a 32-12-4-4 record and earned $1,242,780 to date. Trained by Brad Cox, he will break from post 13 under Florent Geroux.
