My Girl Red wins Del Mar’s Sorrento Stakes

Erich G. Brehm’s My Girl Red is two for two and a graded stakes winner after setting a pressured early pace in Friday’s $150,500 Sorrento Stakes (G2) at Del Mar, shaking loose going to the turn and then drawing away down the stretch to beat fellow OBS graduate Get On the Bus (March ’20) by 4-3/4 lengths. Trained by Keith Desormeaux, the 2-year-old filly by Texas Red has earned $120,000 to date. Raj Jagnanan’s American Sailor was awarded victory via disqualification in Saturday’s $200,000 Troy Stakes (G3) at Saratoga. It’s the first stakes win for American Sailor and the first graded win for trainer Wayne Potts, leaving the 8-year-old gelding by City Zip with a 45-15-9-3 career record and earnings of $568,264. Consigned by Silver Star to the 2014 OBS Spring Sale, he was sold for $100,000 after breezing an eighth in :9 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Sandin Syndicate Stable LLC’s Pico d’Oro was a maiden going into Sunday’s $100,000 Runhappy Juvenile Stakes at Ellis Park but a stakes winner at the finish. The 2-year-old colt by Curlin was last of seven early, rallied four wide down the stretch, caught the leaders in the final sixteenth and ran on by to score by two lengths. At the 2020 OBS March Sale, he sped an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5 before he was purchased out of the Eddie Woods consignment for $255,000.
