Not This Time filly tops Spring Sale’s second session

Hip No. 1254, a daughter of Not This Time consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, was sold to Gary Young for $1,350,000 to top the second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2020 Spring Sale of Two Year Olds in Training. The bay filly, whose quarter in :20 1/5 was the sale’s fastest at the distance, is out of graded stakes winner Sheza Smoke Show, by Wilko, a daughter of stakes winner Avery Hall.

  • Hip No. 561, a son of Candy Ride (ARG) consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, went to D. J. Stable LLC for $800,000. The bay colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at Wednesday’s Under Tack session, is a half brother to graded stakes placed Battalion Runner out of Tamboz, by Tapit.
  • Mike Shannon, Agent for Russell Welch, paid $700,000 for Hip No. 1258, a son of Empire Maker who turned in an eighth in :10 1/5 on Tuesday. The dark bay or brown colt, is a half brother to graded stakes winner Rocketry out of Smart Farming, by Smart Strike.
  • Hip No. 1253, a daughter of Distorted Humor who breezed a quarter in :20 4/5 on Monday, was sold to Donato Lanni, Agent for Baoma Corp. for $700,000. The bay filly, consigned by by Niall Brennan Stables, is a half sister to graded stakes placed Big Family out of She’ll Be Right, by Sky Mesa.
  • Hip No. 341, a daughter of Constitution consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, was sold to Ben McElroy / Narvick International for $450,000, The bay filly, who breezed a quarter on Monday in :20 4/5, is out of Rebuke, by Carson City, a half sister to stakes winner Summer Cruise.
  • Hip No. 1262, a son of Runhappy consigned by Pick View LLC, Agent, went to Jerry Durant for $435,000. The dark bay or brown colt who worked a quarter in :21 flat on Tuesday, is a half brother to stakes winner Ready for Romance out of Strange Romance, by Mr. Greeley.
  • Bridlewood Farm went to $400,000 for Hip No. 524, a daughter of Kantharos consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent. The dark bay or brown filly, who worked a quarter in :20 4/5 on Tuesday, is out of graded stakes placed stakes winner Stormy Regatta, by Midshipman, from the family of graded stakes winner Utopian.
  • Hip No. 421, a daughter of No Nay Never consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, went to Meah/Lloyd Bloodstock, Agent for Promenade Bloodstock for $350,000. The Irish-bred bay filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 on Tuesday, is a full sister to grade one stakes winner Ten Sovereigns out of stakes placed Seeking Solace (GB).
  • Hip No. 468, a daughter of Empire Maker consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, went to Arman Shah for $350,000. The dark bay or brown filly, who turned in a quarter in :21 2/5, is out of Smart N Soft, by Smart strike, a daughter of graded stakes winner Softly.
  • Hip No. 560, a daughter of Twirling Candy consigned by Costanzo Sales, was sold to Three Amigos for $350,000. The dark bay or brown filly out of Tale Untold, by Tale of the Cat, a half sister to graded stakes placed I’m in Love, worked a quarter in :10 flat at Wednesday’s Under Tack session.
  • Hip No. 388, a daughter of The Factor consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, was sold to John P. Fort for $320,000. The gray or roan filly, who worked an eighth on Tuesday in :10 flat, is a half sister to stakes placed Starving Artist out of stakes winner Salary Drive, by Mizzen Mast.

For the day, 143 horses brought a total of $15,209,000 compared with 183 selling for a total of $22,902,500 at last year’s second session. The average price was $106,357, compared to $125,150 in 2019 while the median price was $57,000, compared with $75,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 26.7%; it was 16% last year.
