Neptune’s Storm scores in Golden Gate’s San Francisco Mile

Cybertec International Inc., Saul Gevertz, Lynn Gitomer, Mike Goetz, Michael Nentwing and Daniel Weiner’s Neptune’s Storm pressed the pace in the early going of Golden Gate’s $251,350 San Francisco Mile Stakes (G3) on Sunday, caught the leader a furlong out and outgamed him to the wire, scoring by a head. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 4-year-old gelding by Stormy Atlantic, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2018 OBS April Sale, where he was sold for $130,000 after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. Team Hanley’s Captain Bombastic rated nicely while saving ground in Sunday’s $100,000 Mike Lee Stakes at Belmont, came out for the drive, reached the lead with a sixteenth to run and eased away late to win by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Dream Bigger (April ’19) checked in third. It’s the second stakes score for the 3-year-old son of Forty Tales, trained by Jeremiah Englehart, now 6-3-2-1 with earnings of $316,800. Erich G. Brehm’s My Girl Red won at first asking on Sunday in a $65,000, 4-1/2 furlong maiden special test at Santa Anita, dueling for the early lead, taking command after turning for home and striding away down the stretch to a 4-1/4 length victory. The 2-year-old filly, trained by Keith Desormeaux, the first winner for sire Texas Red, earned $30,000 for the win. Raymond Kuah’s Chancheng Prince captured the Chairmen’s Plate at Hong Kong’s Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, shaking loose a quarter mile out after battling for command, and drawing away to win by 3-1/4 lengths. The 3-year-old colt by Carpe Diem turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5 before he was purchased for $150,000 out of the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2019 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video    race video
