Ms Peintour scores in Santa Anita’s Astra Stakes

Jay Em Ess Stable’s Ms Peintour stalked the leaders early in Sunday’s $101,000 Astra Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita, came out to take the lead after turning for home and eased away late to score by two lengths. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Paynter, trained by Brian Koriner, now 13-3-1-2 with $166,534 in earnings. A two time OBS graduate, she was consigned by Daylight Farms Racing and Sales and went through the ring at both the 2017 April and June Sales, turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 in April and a quarter in :21 2/5 in June.  watch her June under tack video

 

Tom R. Durant’s Silver Dust, never far from the lead down the backstretch of the $97,000 Louisiana Stakes (G3) on Saturday at Fair Grounds, took charge on the outside a quarter mile from home and widened down the stretch to a 4-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Blended Citizen (March ’17). It’s the third graded stakes victory for the 6-year-old gelding by Tapit, purchased for $510,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale after breezing a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Bret Calhoun, he’s now 25-6-7-2 and has earned $702,277 to date. watch his under tack video

Blue Heaven Farm’s Starship Jubilee captured Gulfstream’s $150,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Stakes for the third consecutive year on Saturday, leading from gate to wire and beating fellow OBS graduate Beautiful Lover (April ’18) by 3-1/4 lengths. That’s eight stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred multiple graded stakes winning daughter of Indy Wind, now 33-15-5-3 for trainer Kevin Attard with earnings of $1,261,597. The two time OBS graduate was sold by The Acorn at the 2014 August Yearling Sale then consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm to the 2015 April Sale where she went through the ring after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. watch her under tack video

Gary Barber’s Two Sixty took the lead at the start of Saturday’s $125,000 Gasparilla Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and kept it to the wire, holding off a late challenge to score by a neck. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Uncaptured, a two time OBS graduate, sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2018 October Sale before she was purchased for $260,000 out of the SGV Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2019 March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Trained by Mark Casse, she’s now 7-3-1-1 and has earned $409,000. watch her under tack video
