Instilled Regard scores in Gulfstream’s Ft. Lauderdale Stakes

OXO Equine’s Instilled Regard saved ground in the early going of Gulfstream’s $200,000 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes (G2) on Saturday, slipped through between horses after turning for home and rallied down the stretch for a half length victory.  It’s the second graded stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Arch, who turned in an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5 before he was purchased for $1,050,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale. Now 14-3-3-3 for trainer Chad Brown, he has earned $589,240 to date.  watch his under tack video

Imaginary Stables and Glen Ellis’ War Story is closing on on the $3-million mark after putting in a strong late run to take the $100,000 Harlan’s Holiday Stakes (G3) on Saturday at Gulfstream by a length and a half over fellow OBS graduate Phat Man (March ’16). That’s five stakes wins for the sturdy 7-year-old son of Northern Afleet, trained by Elizabeth Dobles, giving him a 38-8-7-5 career record and $2,984,996 in earnings. Consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, to the 2014 OBS March Sale, he went through the ring after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Shea D Boy’s Stable’s Bank  On Shea led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Saturday’s $501,500 New York Stallion Series Stakes at Aqueduct, closing on the inside down the stretch and getting up in time to beat Dream Bigger (April ’19) by a nose, with Captain Bombastic (March ’19) checking in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old colt by Central Banker, sold for $110,000 by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent, at the 2019 April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Trained by Jason Servis, he’s now 3-2-0-1 and has earned $329,900. watch his under tack video

 

OBS graduates were 1-2-3 in the $125,000 FTBOA City of Ocala Florida Stallion Stakes on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs, with Brent Fernung and Eugene Cahalan’s unbeaten J P’s Delight pressing the pace before taking charge in the stretch and drawing away to beat Wildwood’s Beauty (October ’17) by 2-3/4 lengths, with R Prerogative (March ’18, January ’17) another length back in third.  Now three for three for trainer Kathleen O’Connell, the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of J P’s Gusto has earned $118,100 to date. Consigned to the 2018 OBS June Sale by Journeyman Bloodstock Services, Inc. (Brent & Crystal Fernung), Agent, she went through the ring after an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. J P’s Delight is entered as Hip No. 224 in the Horses of Racing Age section of the 2020 OBS Winter Mixed Sale. William and Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Vacherie Girl is two for two and a stakes winner after circling horses on the turn to reach the leaders in Saturday’s $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Lassie Stakes at Fair Grounds. She closed late to score by a length and a quarter, with fellow OBS graduate Sincerity (June ’19) settling for third. The 2-year-old daughter of Tapiture is a two time OBS graduate, sold first by Pelican State Thoroughbreds as a yearling at the 2018 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased for $87,000 out of the Paul Sharp consignment at the 2019 June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5.
