OBS graduates posted three graded stakes wins at Saratoga on Travers day, including grade one wins by Midnight Bisou and Mitole.
In a contest which will get votes for Race of the Year, Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stables LLC and Allen Racing LLC’s Midnight Bisou needed every inch of the Saratoga stretch to rally and catch a stubborn Elate at the wire and take the $700,000 Personal Ensign Stakes (G1) by a nose. It’s the sixth straight graded stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute, trained by Steve Asmussen, now 17-11-3-3 with 11 graded stakes wins and earnings of $3,245,000. She was purchased by Jeffrey Bloom for $80,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 April Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch her under tack video
William & Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Mitole hounded Promises Fulfilled in the early going of the $601,950 Forego Stakes (G1), put him away leaving the backstretch, took a solid lead into the stretch and cruised home a three length winner, running seven furlongs in a stakes record 1:20 4/5. Fellow OBS graduate Killybegs Captain (April ’16) settled for third. That’s four graded stakes wins for the 4-year-old colt by Eskendereya, consigned to the 2017 OBS April Sale by Grassroots Training & Sales and sold for $140,000 after an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Stephanie Seymour Brant’s Significant Form saved ground just off the lead $400,000 Ballston Spa Stakes (G2), came out for the drive and was up late to win a five horse battle to the wire by a neck, with fellow OBS graduate Starship Jubilee (April ’15, August ’14) another neck back in third. It’s the third graded stakes victory for 4-year-old daughter of Creative Cause, who sped an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat before she was purchased for $575,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale.
