Midnight Bisou scores in Monmouth’s Molly Pitcher Stakes

Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stables LLC and Allen Racing LLC’s Midnight Bisou continued her march toward a title with a victory in Saturday’s $147,000 Molly Pitcher Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park. The 4-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute, trained by Steve Asmussen, is five for five this year, all in graded stakes company. After saving ground early, she slipped through on the rail in the final furlong and eased away to score by a measured length. That’s her tenth graded stakes victory, and it leaves her with a 16-10-3-3 career record and $2,870,000 in earnings. After breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5, she was purchased by Jeffrey Bloom for $80,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 April Sale. watch her under tack video

Imaginary Stables and Glenn Ellis’ War Story pressed the pace early in Saturday’s $200,000 Monmouth Cup Stakes (G3), fought back when headed in the stretch and won by a head. It’s the fourth stakes victory for the 7-year-old gelding by Northern Afleet, consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, to the 2014 OBS March Sale, where he turned in an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Jorge Navarro, he’s now 35-7-6-5 and has earned $2,885,305 to date. watch his under tack video

Lucky Man Racing LLC’s Justaholic sat just off the pace in Monmouth’s $78,000 Wolf Hill Stakes on Saturday, collared the leaders in the stretch and wore them down late to win by a length. It’s the second straight win and first stakes score for the 4-year-old son of Justin Phillip, trained by Thomas A. Clark, now 8-4-2-1 with $139,000 in earnings. He was purchased for $40,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Altamira Racing Stable and Slam Dunk Racing’s Painting Corners stalked the early leader of Del Mar’s $116,504 Daisycutter Stakes on Saturday, took over in the stretch and eased away late to score by three quarters of a length. It’s the second stakes win this year for the 5-year-old Florida-bred graded stakes placed daughter of Pleasant Strike, trained by Peter Miller, now 20-7-2-4 with $319,338 in earnings. She was purchased for $40,000 out of the Woodside Ranch consignment at the 2016 April Sale after working an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

West Point Thoroughbreds’ Seven Trumpets pressed the pace in Sunday’s $76,000 Good Lord Stakes at Ellis Park, took command in the lane and held off a late charge to win by three quarters of a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old graded stakes placed colt by Morning Line, now 14-4-3-1 with $446,945 in earnings for trainer Dale Romans.  He breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before he was purchased for $205,000 out of the Randy Miles consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

Charles Hovitz’s Vangilder stepped into stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s $70,000 Charles Taylor Derby at Albuquerque, circled seven wide to reach contention in the stretch and was up in the final yards to win by three quarters of a length. The 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Paynter, consigned to the 2018 OBS March Sale by Best A Luck Farm, Agent, breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was sold for $30,000.
