Bloom Racing Stable LLC’s Henley’s Joy had the leaders in his sights on the backstretch of Saturday’s $1,000,000 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1), came off the hedge to challenge turning for home, took the lead in the final sixteenth and eased away to a three quarter length victory. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Kitten’s Joy, closing in on a million with earnings of $953,160 for trainer Mike Maker and sporting an 11-4-3-0 career record. He breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5 before he was purchased for $50,000 out of the Cary Frommer consignment at the 2018 April Sale. watch his under tack video
