OBS grads win three Grade Ones at Belmont Day

William & Corrine Heiligbrodt’s Mitole pressed a rapid early pace in the $1.2-million Metropolitan Handicap (G1), took the lead after three quarters in 1:08 1/5 and held off stretch runs by McKinzie and Thunder Snow to score by three quarters of a length. The time for the mile  was 1:32 3/5.  It’s the seventh straight win and third graded victory for the 4-year-old colt by Eskendereya, trained by Steve Asmussen, now 11-8-2-1 and the latest OBS millionaire with earnings of $1,642,910. Consigned to the 2017 OBS April Sale by Grassroots Training & Sales, he was sold for $140,000 after an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. watch his under tack video

Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stables LLC and Allen Racing LLC’s Midnight Bisou saved ground early in the $700,000 Ogden Phipps Stakes (G1), came out for the drive, ran past Come Dancing in the upper stretch then drew away to win by 3-1/2 lengths. It’s the ninth graded stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute, purchased by Jeffrey Bloom for $80,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 April Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Also trained by Steve Asmussen, she’s now 15-9-3-3 and has earned $2,780,000 to date. watch her under tack video

Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables LLC and Bethlehem Stables LLC’s World of Trouble took the lead right after the break in the $400,000 Jaipur Invitational Stakes (G1), opened a clear lead after a half in :43 4/5 and refused to yield down the stretch, scoring by a length and three quarters after six furlongs on the turf in 1:06 1/5. That’s five straight stakes wins for the 4-year-old Florida-bred colt by Kantharos, consigned by Darsan Inc., Agent, to the 2016 OBS August Yearling Sale. Now 13-9-2-1 for trainer Jason Servis, he has earned $1,263,300.
