Mom’s On Strike captures Churchill’s Mint Julep Stakes

Carl R. Moore Management LLC and Brad Grady’s Mom’s On Strike saved ground early in Saturday’s $125,000 Old Forester Mint Julep Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs, came out for the drive, took the lead late and was best by a neck.  It’s the second graded stakes win for the 6-year-old Florida-bred daughter of First Dude, a two time OBS graduate. She went through the ring at the 2014 August Yearling Sale and then turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before she was purchased for $75,000 out of the Best A Luck Farm consignment at the 2015 April Sale.  Trained by Joe Sharp, she’s now 20-7-6-1 and has earned $594,550 to date. watch her under tack video 

Skychai Racing Kendall E. Hansen and Sand Dollar Stable’s Fast and Accurate rallied from off the pace to take charge of Sunday’s $100,000 Robellino Stakes at Penn National after straightening away in  the stretch, then drew away to score by 5-1/2  lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Driven to Compete (April ’16) checked in third. It’s the fifth stakes win for the 5-year-old graded stakes winning son of Hansen, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased for $85,000 from Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2016 OBS April Sale. Now 23-7-5-3 for trainer Mike Maker, he has earned $622,827. watch his under tack video

Monarch Stable’s Art G Is Back sat just off the lead in the early going of Gulfstream’s $75,000 Thirsty Fish Stakes on Sunday, took command in the final furlong and drew off to a two length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Exchange Rate, purchased for $90,000 out of the Craig L. Wheeler consignment at the 2018 OBS April Sale. Trained by Ronald Spatz, he’s now 8-2-2-2 and has earned $123,275.  watch his under tack video

Mark Norman and Norman Stables LLC’s Taylor’s Spirit stalked the leader in the $61,750 Panthers Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Thursday, took over in the lane and eased away to a 2-3/4 length victory. That’s five stakes wins for the 3-year-old filly by Algorithms, now 10-5-2-1 for trainer Scott Gelner, with $230,730 in earning, she has earned $191,730 to date. She was sold for $80,000 by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2018 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video
