April grad By My Standards wins the Louisiana Derby

Allied Racing Stable, LLC’s By My Standards jumped from a maiden win last month straight into Saturday’s $1,000,000 Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds, but took the class jump in stride. Dismissed at 22-1, the colt by OBS graduate Goldencents stayed close early, challenged the leader in the final sixteenth and was best by three quarters of a length. Now 5-2-2-1 for trainer Bret Calhoun, he has earned $653,710 to date. Consigned to the 2018 OBS April Sale by Scanlon Training & Sales, Agent, he was purchased by J. Stevens Bloodstock, Agent, for $150,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5. watch his under tack video

Thoroughbred Champions Training Center LLC’s Gladiator King took the lead at the start of Gulfstream Park’s $97,000 Hutcheson Stakes (G3), set the pace, shook loose after straightening away in the stretch and cruised to a four length victory. It’s the second stakes win and first graded victory for the 3-year-old colt by Curlin, who went through the ring at the 2018 OBS June Sale after turning in an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. OGMA Investments LLC’s Brunette Princess was outrun early in Gulfstream’s $75,000 Any Limit Stakes on Saturday, but found her best stride in deep stretch and was up in time to finish in a dead heat for the victory. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Bodemeister, trained by Gustavo Delgado, now 7-2-3-1 with $95,105 in earnings. Consigned to the 2018 OBS April Sale by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, she went through the ring after speeding an Under Tack quarter in :21 1/5. watch her under tack video

 

Ron Paolucci Racing LLC’s Totally Obsessed picked up the first stakes win of her career on Saturday at Mahoning Valley Race Course, taking the lead at the start of the $75,000 Southern Park Stakes and never looking back en route to a 3-1/4 length victory. The 3-year-old filly by Tale of Ekati was purchased for $50,000 out of the Pick View LLC consignment at the 2018 OBS June Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 9-4-2-0 for trainer Gary Johnson, she has earned $153,517 to date. watch her under tack video

Mark Norman and Normand Stables LLC’s Shes Our Fastest saved ground in the early going of the $50,000 Yellow Rose Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday, slipped through on the inside passing the eighth pole and drew away late to win by 2-1/2 lengths. It’s the third stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Oratory, trained by Scott Gelner, now 15-5-3-2 with $183,110 in earnings. She turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 flat before she was purchased for $50,000 out of the Stephens Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2017 OBS June Sale. watch her under tack video
