Silver Dust scores in Fair Grounds’ Mineshaft Handicap

Tom R. Durant’s Silver Dust moved three-wide into contention on the far turn in Saturday’s$150,000 Mineshaft Handicap (G3) at Fair Grounds, came into the stretch in front and stayed there to the wire, scoring by 2-1/4 lengths. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Tapit, now 19-4-4-2 with $354,607 in earnings for trainer Bret Calhoun. Consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, to the 2016 OBS March Sale, he turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5 before he was purchased for $510,000. watch his under tack video

Peter Redekop‘s  Anothertwistafate took the lead at the start of Golden Gate’s $101,800 El Camino Real Derby on Saturday, opened up daylight after turning for home and cruised away down the stretch to a seven length victory. Fellow OBS graduate More Ice (April ’18, October ’17) checked in third. It’s the third straight win and first stakes score for the 3-year-old colt by Scat Daddy, purchased for $360,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2018 OBS June Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 4-3-0-0 for trainer Blaine Wright, he has earned $94,535 to date. watch his under tack video

Three Diamonds Farm’s Bonus Points was relaxed off the pace in the early going of Saturday’s $100,000 John B. Campbell Stakes at Laurel, but moved between horses to reach the leaders turning for home, swung out for the drive and was up late to score by a neck. That’s three stakes wins for the 5-year-old graded stakes placed son of Majestic Warrior, consigned by Grassroots Training & Sales LLC, Agent, to the 2016 OBS April Sale, where he worked an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Todd Pletcher, he’s now 24-6-5-4 and has earned $532,684. watch his under tack video

Curragh Racing II LLC’s Killybegs Captain went right to the front in Saturday’s $75,000 Pelican Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, set a rapid pace, turned back 1-5 favorite Imperial Hint turning for home and drew away to win by 4-1/2 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Sweetontheladies (April ’16) came on late to be second. It’s the first stakes victory for the 4-year-old son of Mizzen Mast, trained by John Terranova, now 17-5-3-1 with $220,653 in earnings. Consigned to the 2016 OBS April Sale by Cary Frommer, Agent, he was sold for $75,000 after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video

The same connections scored two races later on the Tampa card when Heavenly Score slipped through on the rail in the $50,000 Minaret Stakes and took command late to score a two length victory. The 5-year-old graded stakes placed daughter of Even the Score picked up her first stakes win, improved her record to 15-5-2-3 and boosted her bankroll to $297,150. A three time OBS graduate, she was sold as a weanling by Perrone Sales, Ltd, Agent for McDowell Farm, at the 2014 Fall Mixed Sale and then resold by Kim Harrison (Top Speed Farm), Agent, at the 2015 August Yearling Sale.
