Bernsen LLC’s ’s Stormy Liberal tuned up for a defense of his title in next month’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1), stalking stablemate Conquest Tsunami in Friday’s $101,380 Eddie D Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita and wearing him down late to beat him by a head. It’s the third straight win and seventh stakes victory for the 6-year-old son of Stormy Atlantic, trained by Peter Miller, now 29-11-8-1 with $1,368,360 in earnings. Shadai Farm, J Stables LLC, Head of Plains Partners LLC, Scott M. Summers, Daniel Summers, Chad Summers and Michael E. Kisber’s Mind Your Biscuits sat just off the pace in the early going of Saturday’s $200,000 Lukas Classic Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs, took charge after turning for home and drew away in deep stretch to a 4-3/4 length victory. It’s the sixth graded stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Posse, consigned by SBM Training and Sales, Agent, to the 2015 OBS April Sale, where he went through the ring after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5. Charles Fipke’s Seeking the Soul circled horses on the turn to reach the leaders in Churchill’s $100,000 Ack Ack Stakes (G3), took command a furlong from home and eased away to score by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Giant Expectations (March ’15) rallied to be third. Trained by Dallas Stewart, the 5-year-old son of Perfect Soul (IRE) picked up his second graded stakes victory, improved his record to 21-6-4-5 and boosted his bankroll to $1,482,542. Larry Pratt and Dave Alden’s Doctor Mounty picked up his first stakes victory in Laurel’s Baltimore/Washington International Turf Cup Stakes (G3) on Saturday, charging from off the pace to a clear lead in mid-stretch and holding off a late challenge to win by a nose. The 5-year-old son of Street Sense, trained by Shug McGaughey, is now 22-6-5-2 and has earned $347,060.
