Shamrock Rose scores in Keeneland’s Raven Run Stakes

Conrad Farms’ Shamrock Rose was taken off the pace in the $250,000 Raven Run Stakes (G2) at Keeneland on Saturday, but came running on the turn, surged to the lead past the eighth pole and drew off to win her first graded stake by 2-1/2 lengths, with fellow OBS graduate Take Charge Paula (March ’17) checking in third.  It’s the third straight stakes score for the 3-year-old daughter of First Dude, now 9-4-2-1 for trainer Mark Casse, with $367,867 in earnings. She was sold for $120,000 by Best A Luck Farm LLC, Agent, at the 2017 OBS April Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. watch her under tack video

Paul Braverman and Timothy Pinch’s Solidify is two for two and a graded stakes winner after coming  from far off the pace to take command of Sunday’s $150,000 Grey Stakes (G3) at Woodbine in the stretch and holding the late runners safe to score by half a length.  The 2-year-old colt by Tapizar was purchased for $7,000 out of the Select Sales consignment at the 2017 OBS October Yearling Sale. Trained by Reade Baker, he has earned $85,572 to date.

OBS graduates enjoyed a big afternoon at Belmont on Saturday, capturing four races on New York Showcase Day.

In the $250,000 Empire Distaff Handicap,  Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables LLC and Michael Imperio’s Bonita Bianca tracked the early leaders, took over a quarter mile from home and drew away easily to win by six lengths. It’s the fifth stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Curlin, trained by Jason Servis, now 14-7-1-2 with $609,667 in earnings. Consigned by Dormellito Stud Sales to the 2016 OBS March Sale, she breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 3/5 before going to Michael Dubb for $97,000. watch her under tack video

In the $208,700 Mohawk Stakes, Michael Dubb, Nantucket Thoroughbred Partners, Bethlehem Stables LLC et al’s Offering Plan rallied to take charge at the head of the stretch and drew away steadily down the lane to a six length victory. That’s four stakes wins for the 6-year-old graded stakes placed son of Spring At Last, sold for $135,000 at the 2014 OBS April Sale by Mayberry Farm, Agent, after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by Chad Brown, he’s now 23-8-5-4 and has earned $758,423 to date.  watch his under tack video

Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC and Willis Horton Racing LLC’s Bankit was much the best in the $256,875 Sleepy Hollow Stakes, taking command a furlong from home and drawing away late to win by 5-3/4 lengths.  It’s the first stakes victory for the 2-year-old colt by Central Banker, now 5-2-2-0 for trainer Steve Asmussen with $249,625 in earnings.  Consigned to the 2018 OBS March Sale by SGV Thoroughbreds LLC (Steven Venosa), Agent, he breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased by Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC for $260,000. watch his under tack video

In the $250,000 Maid of the Mist Stakes, Grey Fox Stable, Chester Broman Sr. and Mary Broman’s Surge of Pride was taken back to save ground in the early going, but swung out in the stretch, ran down the leaders and won going away by a length and a quarter. It’s the first stakes score for the 2-year-old daughter of Kantharos, consigned by Sequel Bloodstock, Agent, to the 2018 OBS April Sale where she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by Linda Rice, she’s now 3-2-0-0 and has earned $184,750.  watch her under tack video

 

Jordan C. Wycoff’s Gianna’s Dream defended her title in Friday’s $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf Stakes, pressing the pace in a race taken off the turf, putting away her rivals in the stretch and winning by a length and a quarter.  It’s the sixth stakes win for the 5-year-old mare by Twirling Candy, trained by Mike Maker, now 25-11-2-5 with $563,055 in earnings. She was purchased for $42,000 out of the Perrone Sales consignment at the 2014 OBS August Selected Yearling Sale.  Selected Sale conformation photo 

Keith Plaisance’s Pacific Pink was well off the pace early in Friday’s $100,000 Magnolia Stakes at Delta Downs, but the 6-year-old daughter of Private Vow, trained by Edward Johnston, came outside for the stretch run and got rolling late to get up in the final yards and score by three quarters of a length. It’s her eighth stakes victory and leaves her 32-12-7-7 with earnings of $717,770. She was purchased by Nick Hines, Agent, for $90,000 out of the Robert Brewer consignment at the 2014 OBS April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch her under tack video

Mark Norman and Norman Stables LLC’s Taylor’s Spirit picked up her third stakes victory on Friday at Delta Downs, leading from gate to wire and running away to a 6-1/4 length victory in the $50,000 My Trusty Cat Stakes. The 2-year-old filly by Algorithms was purchased for $80,000 from Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, at the 2018 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Scott Gelner, she’s now 5-4-0-0 and has earned $125,480. watch her under tack video
