Master Plan (Lauren King photo)

Live racing returns to the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company on Tuesday, November 20th. Two sprint stakes for OBS sale graduates headline the day and will be open to older horses. Free nominations to both races close on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. The new position on the calendar provides horsemen a stakes opportunity before the kickoff of the Gulfstream Park Championship and the Tampa Bay Downs meets.

The stakes races will be run over six furlongs with a guaranteed purse of $125,000 and restricted to OBS graduates. The OBS Sprint and the OBS Filly and Mare Sprint are for three years old and upward. Entries will be taken on Tuesday, November 13th. Both races will be run as non-wagering events.

All starters finishing fifth through last will earn $5,000. Supplementary nominations of $500 may be made at time of entry for those horses missing the free nomination deadline. There is a fee of $1,250 to enter and $2,500 to start. Nomination forms and the condition book may be found in the OBS website at: 2018 OBS Sprint Stakes

There will be pari-mutuel wagering available on eight races, featuring quarter horse races for two year olds as well as for three years old and upward at distances from 220 yards to 440 yards. Up to four thoroughbred maiden and starter allowance races may be used as substitute races. Purses range from $4,000 to $7,000 with all starters guaranteed a minimum of $200. The condition book may be found online at: November QH 2018 Condition Book
