King of Prussia Stable’s Shanghai Starlet sat just off the lead in the $75,000 Panama City Stakes at Gulfstream on Saturday, went to the front on the turn, surrendered the lead in the stretch but came again late and was best by a neck. Fellow OBS graduate Starship Bonita (March ’17, August ’16) checked in third. It’s the second straight win and first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Shanghai Bobby, purchased for $80,000 out of the Beth Bayer consignment at the 2016 OBS Selected Sale of Yearlings. Now 6-3-1-1 for trainer Todd Pletcher, she has earned $107,040 to date.  Selected Sale conformation photo

It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Algorithms, trained by Ms. Chleborad, now 9-3-1-4 with $144,133 in earnings.  Consigned to the 2017 OBS June Sale by Rick Lopez Training & Sales, she sped a quarter in :21 2/5 before she was sold for $6,000. watch her under tack video

Dale Hagedorn’s Mr Wrench It stepped into stakes company straight from a June maiden win in Friday’s $65,000 Prairie Meadows Juvenile Stakes, trailed early, but circled horses on the turn, took command in the final furlong and drew away to win by 6-3/4 lengths. Fellow OBS graduate Castlewood Terrace (March ’18) settled for third. Consigned by breeder Kinsman Farm to the 2017 OBS October Selected Sale of Yearling, he was sold for $37,000. The 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Lookin At Lucky, trained by H. Steve Davidson, is now 4-2-0-1 and has earned $54,224.  Selected Sale conformation photo
