Shamrock Rose heads parade of nine OBS weekend stakes winners

Conrad Farms’ Shamrock Rose relaxed just off the early lead in Sunday’s $100,000 Malverne Rose Stakes at Presque Isle Downs, took command at the quarter pole and opened up down the lane, hitting the wire a 10-1/4 length winner. It’s the second stakes victory for the graded stakes placed 3-year-old daughter of First Dude, sold for $120,000 by Best A Luck Farm LLC, Agent, at the 2017 OBS April Sale after she turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. Bruce Talisman’s Magic Tale is two for two and a stakes winner after drawing away late to a three length wire to wire win in Saturday’s $75,000 Cleveland Kindergarten Stakes at Thistledown. The 2-year-old colt by Tale of the Cat, trained by Kelly Breen, has earned $64,500 to date. He was purchased by Mr. Talisman out of the de Meric Sales consignment at the 2018 OBS March Sale for $70,000 after an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.  watch his under tack video

Flurry Racing Stables LLC’s Mr. Misundertood scored his second straight stakes win on Sunday at Ellis Park, tracking the early leaders in the $100,000 Kentucky Downs Preview Tourist Mile Stakes before wearing them down late to win by a length and a quarter. That’s six stakes victories for the 4-year-old graded stakes winning gelding by Archarcharch, purchased for $130,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by Brad Cox, he has compiled an 18-11-2-0 career record and has earned $634,354. watch his under tack video

Juddmonte Farms’ Golden Mischief pressed the pace down the backstretch of Saturday’s $75,000 West Virginia Secretary of State Stakes at Mountaineer Park, shook loose turning for home and drew away to a 7-1/4 length victory. It’s the sixth stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, trained by Brad Cox, now 20-9-3-0 with $518,150 in earnings. Consigned by SBM Training and Sales, Agent, to the 2016 OBS March Sale, she turned in an eighth in :9 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch her under tack video

Steve Landers Racing LLC’s Big Changes also enjoyed the day at Mountaineer, taking charge of the $75,000 West Virginia House of Delegates Speakers Stakes in the stretch and easing away to a 3-1/2 length victory, with fellow OBS graduate Runaway Posse (April ’13) checking in third. The 6-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Midshipman is a two-time OBS graduate sold by Crowe’s Nest Farm at the 2013 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased by Steve Landers for $170,000 out of the Pick View LLC consignment at the 2014 April Sale after breezing an Under Tack quarter in :20 4/5. The weekend’s third stakes winner for trainer Brad Cox, he’s now 19-7-5-1 with three stakes wins and earnings of $321,550. watch his under tack video

Susan Moultan’s lightly raced Altamura ran off her third stakes victory in a row, making the pace in the $75,000 Camptown Stakes at Laurel on Saturday before opening up daylight at the eighth pole and hanging on gamely by a length and a quarter. The 3-year-old daughter of Artie Schiller, consigned by Stephens Thoroughbeds LLC, Agent, went through the ring at the 2017 OBS April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 5-3-0-0 for trainer Wayne Catalano, she has earned $112,400.  watch her under tack video

Ivery Sisters Racing’s Monte Man made it four straight stakes wins on Saturday at Louisiana Downs, setting the pace in the $60,000 Louisiana Cup Sprint Stakes, surrendering the lead in mid-stretch, and then coming again to get up at the wire and win by a neck. The 5-year-old gelding by Custom for Carlos, trained by Ron Fauncheux, is now 27-9-4-3 and has earned $343,055 to date. He was purchased for $125,000 out of the Royal Thoroughbred International consignment at the 2015 OBS March Sale after working an Under Tack eighth in in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video 

Karl Pergola’s K P Wildcat circled her field from far back on the turn in Saturday’s $55,000 Albuquerque Distaff Handicap, surged to the lead a furlong from home and drew off late to win by three lengths. That’s two straight stakes scores for the 5-year-old mare by Include, sold for $40,000 by Paul Sharp, Agent, at the 2015 OBS June Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Trained by Weston Martin, she has eight stakes wins, an 18-12-2-2 record and $472,636 in earnings. watch her under tack video

McShane Racing LLC’s Go On Mary took the lead at the start of Friday’s $103,380 Daisycutter Handicap at Del Mar and refused to yield, holding off fellow OBS graduate Okinawa (April ’16) down the stretch and scoring by half a length. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Broken Vow, who turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 4/5 before she was purchased for $40,000 out of the Ocala Stud consignment at the 2016 OBS April Sale. Trained by Doug O’Neill, she’s now 19-4-2-4 and has earned $198,213 to date.  watch her under tack video
