June Sale begins Wednesday, June 13

The 2018 OBS June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age is set for Wednesday though Friday, June 13th – 15th  with all sessions beginning at 10:00 a.m. Hip No’s 1-300 go on the block Wednesday, Hip No’s 301- 600 will be offered Thursday and Hip No’s. 601-936 will sell on Friday.

The Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website at http://obssales.com and via the Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form and TDN websites. The entire catalog including the supplements can be viewed via the OBS website.

The catalog cover features grade one stakes winning June Sale graduates Stormy Liberal, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) and Clark Handicap (G1) winner Seeking the Soul. They join recent June catalog stars Goldencents, back to back winner of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) and multiple graded stakes winner Celestine, whose 2014 Under Tack three eighths in :32 2/5 was equaled this year by Hip No. 41, a colt by Uncle Mo. watch his under tack video

June graduates have been busy in the run-up to this year’s sale. On Saturday, James M. Miller’s Lovely Bernadette captured Churchill’s $100,000 Mint Julep Handicap (G3) by a neck. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of Wilburn, now 17-8-0-3 with earnings of $568,479. She turned in an Under Tack quarter in :21 4/5 at the 2016 OBS Sale before she was purchased by Mr. Miller for $28,000 from Bobby Jones Equine LLC & Santa Fe Thoroughbreds, Agent. watch her under tack video

Last year’s Sale was topped by a Florida-bred colt by First Dude, consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, who sped an Under Tack quarter in :20 3/5 before he was knocked down for $400,000. On Saturday at Santa Anita, that colt, named There and Now, made his debut in a maiden special weight test for trainer Bob Baffert in the colors of Byerly Turk Racing. He battled for the early lead through a half in :44 3/5 before taking charge and drawing away a winner by 2-1/4 lengths, running the 6-1/2 furlongs in 1:15 4/5. watch his under tack video

Last Thursday at Gulfstream Park, Heczor Investment Corp.’s King Humor made it three wins in as many starts with a front-running victory in the $75,000 Ocala Flame Stakes. Consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2017 OBS Sale, he turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before he sold for $50,000. Trained by Victor Barboza, Jr., the 3-year-old colt by Distorted Humor has earned $101,325 to date. watch his under tack video
