Faypien scores in Sunland’s Harry Henson Stakes

Baoma Corporation’s Faypien, idle since December, got back to work on Sunday at Sunland Park, pressing the pace in the $100,000 Harry Henson Stakes before taking over in the stretch and drawing clear to win by a length and three quarters. It’s the third stakes win for the graded stakes winning 4-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Ghostzapper, trained by Bob Baffert, now 8-4-2-1 with $380,275 in earnings. Consigned by Off the Hook LLC, Agent, to the 2016 OBS April Sale, she turned in an Under Tack quarter in :20 2/5 before she was purchased for $720,000.  watch her under tack video

Three Diamonds Farm’s Battle at Sea took the lead at the start of the $100,000 Crescent City Derby on Saturday at Fair Grounds and never looked back, cruising under the wire a two and a quarter length winner. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Into Mischief, purchased by Three Diamonds for $55,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2017 OBS March Sale after speeding a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Mike Maker, he’s now 5-2-0-1 and has earned $77,025.  watch his under tack video

Ivery Sisters Racing’s Monte Man also enjoyed Saturday at Fair Grounds, circling horses on the turn in the $60,000 Costa Rising Stakes, charging to the lead a furlong from home and scoring by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Trust Factor (June ’15) also rallied to be third. It’s the second straight stakes victory for the 5-year-old gelding by Custom for Carlos, now 25-7-4-3 for trainer Ron Fauncheux, with $262,055 in earnings.  He was purchased for $125,000 out  of the Royal Thoroughbred International consignment at the 2015 OBS March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in in :10 1/5.  watch his under tack video 

e Five Racing Stable’s Florida Fuego picked up her first stakes win at Tampa Bay Downs on Sunday, rallying on the outside, taking lead in deep stretch and scoring by a length and a quarter. Fellow OBS graduate Starship Bonita (March ’17, August ’16) checked in third. The lightly raced 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Kantharos is now 4-2-0-0 for trainer David Fawkes and has earned $98,360 to date. Consigned by her breeder Ocala Stud to the 2017 OBS March Sale, she breezed a quarter in :21 4/5 at the Under Tack Show before going to Mike Ryan, Agent, for $70,000.  watch her under tack video

Freddy Lewis III’s Swagger Jagger took command of Sunday’s $100,000 EG Vodka Turf Classic Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and held off a late charge by fellow OBS graduate Galleon Mast (April ’15) to win by a nose. It’s the third stakes win for the graded stakes placed 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Crown of Thorns, who breezed a quarter in :21 4/5 before being purchased for $77,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2015 OBS April Sale. Trained by Michael Maker, he’s now 19-4-1-3 and has earned $205,859 to date.  watch his under tack video
