Green Fields Co Ltd.’s Mr Melody sat just off the pace in the early going of the Chunichi Sports Sho Falcon Stakes (G3) at Japan’s Chukyo Racecourse on Saturday, wore down the leaders in the stretch and was a length and a quarter clear at the wire. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Scat Daddy, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before he was purchased by Narvick International for $400,000 out of the Harris Training Center consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old filly by Pioneerof the Nile, trained by Brad Cox, leaving her with an 11-4-3-1 career record and $158,695 in earnings. She was purchased for $87,000 out of the Summerfield Sales consignment at the 2015 OBS Winter Mixed Sale.
Andreas Psarras’ Mother of Dragons picked up her first stakes victory on Saturday at Golden Gate Fields, coming from off the pace and closing relentlessly down the stretch to get up and win the $54,650 Camilla Urso Stakes by half a length. The 4-year-old Florida-bred daughter of First Dude, trained by her owner, is now 6-4-0-1 and has earned $84,915 to date. She was sold as a yearling for $3,000 by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2015 OBS Winter Mixed Sale.
