Paved beats the boys in Golden Gate’s El Camino Real Derby

Ciaglia Racing LLC and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ Paved stepped straight from a 5-1/2 length maiden victory against fillies to take on the boys in Saturday’s $100,000 el Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields, and the 3-year-old daughter of Quality Road tracked the leaders into the lane, took charge in the final furlong and won by a length and a quarter. Consigned to the 2017 OBS March Sale by Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co., Inc., Agent, she breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show before going to Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners for $320,000. Rockingham Ranch & Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet took another step in the road to the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1), toying with an overmatched field in the $100,000 Pelican Stakes on Saturday at Tampa Bay  Downs. The 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Kantharos took the lead at the break and gave nothing a chance, drawing away in hand in the stretch and scoring by seven lengths for his third straight stakes win. Trained by Jorge Navarro, the two time OBS graduate has won six stakes races, compiled a 20-9-6-2 career record and has earned $990,813. Carl R. Moore Management LLC and Brad Grady’s Mom’s On Strike picked up her second straight stakes victory on Saturday, coming from far off the pace, overhauling the leaders a sixteenth from home and easing away to win by a length and a half. The 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of First Dude is a two-time OBS graduate, consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, to the 2014 August Yearling Sale and then purchased for $75,000 out of the Best A Luck Farm consignment at the 2015 April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. BB Horses’ Afleet Willy went to the front at the start of Saturday’s $100,000 John B. Campbell Stakes at Laurel and led all the way, cruising to victory by 2-1/2 lengths. It’s the second straight stakes win and fourth overall for the 5-year-old gelding by Wilburn, trained by Claudio Gonzalez, now 27-12-7-2 with $487,735 in earnings. He breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 before he was purchased for $50,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2015 OBS June Sale. watch his under tack video 

Main Line Racing Stable and Joshtylane Farm’s Miss Inclusive took the lead from the outside on the first turn of the $100,000 Maryland Racing Media Stakes at Laurel on Saturday and never looked back from there, drawing away down the stretch to a 3-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Include, purchased for $75,000 out of the Grassroots Training & Sales LLC consignment at the 2015 OBS April Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Trained by John Servis, she’s now 15-5-0-4 and has earned $194,375.  watch her under tack video 

Iris Smith Stable, Lady Sheila Stable and Linda Rice’s Startwithsilver trailed in the early going of Sunday’s $100,000 Broadway Stakes at Aqueduct, but got into gear approaching the head of the stretch, ran past the field on the outside down the lane and drew off to an easy six length victory. It was the stakes debut for the 5-year-old mare by Jump Start, trained by Linda Rice, two for two this year and 15-5-4-2 overall with earnings of $273,559. She turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat before she was purchased for $180,000 out of the King’s Equine consignment at the 2015 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video
