Durocher scores in Gulfstream’s Tropical Park Derby

Sterling Racing LLC, John Herzberg and Michelle Allan’s Durocher sat just off the pace in Saturday’s $75,000 Tropical Park Derby on the Gulfstream Park turf course, came out for the drive, wore down the leaders late and edged away to a three quarter length victory. It’s the first stakes win for the now 4-year-old colt by Niagara Causeway, trained by Joseph Russo, who ended his 3-year-old campaign 13-5-0-4 with earnings of $135,173. A two-time OBS graduate, he was sold as a yearling by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2015 Fall Mixed Sale, and then purchased for $20,000 out of the McKathan Bros. consignment at the 2016 June Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 flat. watch his under tack video

Flurry Racing Stables LLC’s Mr. Misunderstood ended his 3-year-old campaign with seven wins in eight starts, taking command of Saturday’s $75,000 Woodchopper Stakes at Fair Grounds after turning for home and drawing off to victory by a length an three quarters. It’s the fifth straight stakes win for the graded stakes winning gelding by Archarcharch, consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, to the 2016 OBS March Sale, and sold for $130,000 after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. Now 13-9-1-0 for trainer Brad Cox, he has earned $409,694 to date.  watch his under tack video
