Calculator captures Santa Anita’s Clocker’s Corner Stakes

Richard C. Pell’s Calculator took the lead shortly after the start of Sunday’s $82,955 Clocker’s Corner Stakes over the downhill turf course and led all the way, scoring by a length. It’s the second stakes victory for the 6-year-old Florida-bred graded stakes winning son of In Summation, now 20-5-5-4 for trainer Peter Miller, with earnings of $642,560.  He was purchased for $132,000 from breeder Ocala Stud at the 2014 OBS April Sale after turning in a quarter in :21 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Westrock Stables LLC’s Swing and Sway led from flag fall to finish in the $125,000 American Beauty Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn Park, coasting to victory by seven lengths. That’s two stakes wins for the 4-year-old daughter of Macleans Music, purchased for $185,000 out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale after speeding an eighth in :9 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Now 13-4-3-0 for trainer Ron Moquett, she has earned $243,040. watch her under tack video 

BB Horses’ Afleet Willy took command of Laurel’s $75,000 Native Dancer Stakes on Saturday and never looked back, drawing away in the stretch to victory by five lengths. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Wilburn, purchased for $50,000 out of the Wavertree Stables consignment at the 2015 OBS June Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Claudio Gonzalez, he’s now 26-11-7-2 and has earned $427,735. watch his under tack video
