Gelfenstein Farm’s Sharp Azteca sat behind the leaders down the backstretch of Aqueduct’s $750,000 Cigar Mile (G1) on Saturday, moved to take command after turning for home and ran off to score by five lengths over fellow OBS graduate Mind Your Biscuits (April ’15). It’s the first grade one win for the 4-year-old colt by Freud, trained by Jorge Navarro, now 16-8-5-1 with $1,756,740 in earnings. The two time OBS graduate was sold first by Select Sales at the 2014 August Selected Yearling Sale and then purchased for $220,000 at the 2015 April Sale by Gelfenstein Farm from de Meric Sales, Agent for Golden Legacy Stables, after an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5. watch his under tack video

Gary Barber’s Wonder Gadot pressed the pace in the early going of the $250,000 Demoiselle Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct, took over at the head of the stretch and drew off to win by 3-3/4 lengths. The 2-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, trained by Mark Casse, now has three graded stakes wins, a 5-3-0-1 record and earnings of $312,973. She was purchased for $325,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2017 OBS April Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5.  watch her under tack video

Goldmart Farms and Royal Laser Racing’s Kingsport saved ground off the pace in Saturday’s $125,400 Sir Barton Stakes at Woodbine, came out for the drive after avoiding trouble on the turn, blew past the leaders in the final furlong and won by 2-1/2 lengths. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Milwaukee Brew, winner of the Sir Barton in 2015. Trained by Sid Attard, he’s now 23-7-7-3 and has earned $498,888 to date. He breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5 before he was purchased for $45,000 out of the RiceHorse Stables consignment at the 2014 OBS June Sale. watch his under tack video
