Madefronlucky romps in Greenwood Cup Stakes at Parx

Cheyenne Stables LLC and Mac Nichol’s millionaire Madefromlucky surged to the front at the head of the stretch in Parx Racing’s $200, 000 Greenwood Cup Stakes (G3) on Monday and the race was over, drawing away with every stride on his way to a 12-1/4 length victory. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 5-year-old son of  Lookin At Lucky, purchased by Mr. Nichol for $150,000 out of the Crupi’s New Castle Farm consignment at the 2014 OBS March Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Todd Pletcher, he’s now 23-5-5-5 with $1,231,500 in earnings. watch his under tack video

Starship Stables’ Starship Bonita picked a nice spot to break her maiden, stalking the early leaders in Saturday’s $200,000 FTBOA Susan’s Girl Stakes at Gulfstream, battling to the lead a sixteenth from home and holding off a late run by fellow OBS graduate Dessert Honeys (April ’17) to score by a head. It was the third start for the 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Gone Astray, trained by Steve Dwoskin, who has earned $134,400 to date. Reddam Racing LLC’s Encumbered circled horses to reach contention turning for home in Sunday’s $103,105 Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes, took command a furlong out and went on to win by half a length. It’s the first stakes victory for the 2-year-old colt by Violence, consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, to the 2017 OBS April Sale and sold for $225,000 after breezing a quarter in :20 4/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Simon Callaghan, he’s now 3-2-0-0 and has earned $102,000. watch his under tack video

Julienne Lewis, Martha K. Gonzalez, Richard A. Rizzo and Ralph Klicker’s Like What I See went straight from a maiden win to Woodbine’s $102,200 Colin Stakes on Saturday, took the lead at the start and never looked back, scoring by half a length over  fellow OBS graduate Piven (April ’17, Ocotber ’15). Now 5-2-2-0 for trainer Nick Gonzalez, he has earned $99,552 to date. He was sold for $13,000 by Thoroughstock, Agent, at the 2015 OBS Fall Mixed Sale.

Mario Silva’s Bonita brought up the rear in the early going of Saturday’s $75,000 Wasted Tears Stakes at Gulfstream, but the 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by Bluegrass Cat moved up on the turn, came out for the drive and kept on going en route to victory by a length and a half. That’s two straight stakes wins for the two-time OBS graduate, sold by Summerfield, Agent, at the 2014 August Yearling Sale, and then purchased for $25,000 by Mr. Silva out of the Sugar Hill LLC consignment at the 2015 April Sale after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Tobey L. Morton’s Pacific Gale tracked the pace in Saturday’s $61,800 Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park, collared the leader in deep stretch and drew away late to a 3-1/4 length victory. That’s two wins in three trips to the post for the 2-year-old filly by Flat Out, trained by John Kimmel, who has earned $82,000 to date. Anne D. Scott’s Galleon Mast posted his second straight stakes victory at Gulfstream on Monday, coming from off the pace to take command of the $50,000 The Vid Handicap a furlong from home and drawing away to win by 2-1/4 lengths. Trained by David Fawkes, he’s two for three this year, has a 19-6-5-4 career record and has earned $252,780 to date. Consigned to the 2015 OBS April Sale by Eddie Woods, Agent, he went through the ring after an Under Tack quarter in :22 flat. watch his under tack video
