Mind Your Biscuits dominates Belmont Sprint Championship

J Stables, Head of Plains Partners LLC, Summers, Kisber and Summers’ Mind Your Biscuits went back to work after a brief vacation after his Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) victory in March and earned a start in the Breeders’ Cup. The 4-year-old colt by Posse swept to the lead at the top of the stretch of Saturday’s $350,000 Belmont Sprint Championship (G2) and cruised from there to a 3-1/2 length victory. Trained by Chad Summers, he now has four graded stakes wins, a 16-6-6-2 career record and $2,207,166 in earnings. Triple K Stables’ Ghost Hunter saved ground into the stretch of Saturday’s $100,000 Arlington Handicap (G3), slipped through on the inside with a furlong to go and scored by three quarters of a length. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 7-year-old gelding by Ghostzapper, who breezed an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show prior to the  2012 OBS June Sale before he was purchased out of the McKathan Bros. consignment for $30,000. Trained by Jamie Ness, he’s now 46-18-9-8 and has earned $633,523. watch his under tack video

Gainesway Stable’s Danzatrice circled the field from the rear on the turn in Friday’s $101,733 Iowa Distaff Stakes at Prairie Meadows, then ran past the leaders in deep stretch and won by a length and a quarter. That’s three stakes wins for the 5-year-old daughter of Dunkirk, trained by Steve Asmussen, now 14-7-1-1 with $302,745 in earnings. She turned in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show before she was sold for $105,000 by Grassroots Training & Sales LLC at the 2014 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

Brad Grady’s Phat Man relaxed off the pace in the $99,000 Long Branch Stakes on Saturday at Monmouth Park, rallied on the outside down the stretch and was up in the final strides to beat fellow OBS graduate Talk Logistics (April ’16) by a head. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old gelding by Munnings, consigned by Bobby Dodd, Agent, who went through the ring at the 2016 OBS March Sale after breezing an Under Tack eighth in :10 2/5. Now 9-3-3-0 for trainer Joe Sharp, he has earned $129,540 to date. watch his under tack video

Keith Plaisance’s Pacific Pink, last in the early going of Saturday night’s $100,000 Louisiana Legends Distaff Stakes at Evangeline Downs, rallied to take the lead turning for home and drew away to a three length victory. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of Private Vow, consigned by Robert Brewer to the 2014 OBS April Sale, and sold to Nick Hines, Agent, for $90,000 after turning in an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. Trained by Edward Johnston, she’s now 21-9-4-6 and has earned $481,620 to date. watch her under tack video

Kathleen Amaya and Raffaele Centofanti’s Look Into My Eyes stalked the leaders in Saturday’s $100,000 Louisiana Legends Mademoiselle Stakes at Evangeline Downs into the lane, put them away inside the eighth pole and drew away to a three length victory. Fellow OBS graduate Ramona’s Wildcat (April ’13, January ’12) rallied from last to be third. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old daughter of City Zip, trained by Efren Loza, Jr., now 12-7-2-1 with $195,560 in earnings. A two time OBS graduate, she was sold by Pelican State Thoroughbreds, Agent, at the 2013 January Sale and then breezed an Under Tack quarter in :21 2/5 before going through the ring at the 2014 June Sale. watch her under tack video

Gary Barber’s Spring Up led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Sunday’s $50,000 Mecke Stakes at Gulfstream Park, rallying to take the lead in the final sixteenth and holding off Galleon Mast (April ’15) by three quarters of a length, with Two Step Time (June ’15, April ’15, October ’13) another length back in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Spring At Last, two for two this year for trainer Mark Casse, leaving him 23-10-1-2 with $314,892 in earnings. He was purchased for $14,000 out of the Bridlewood Farm consignment at the 2011 OBS August Sale.
