First Dude colt tops June Sale’s opening session

Hip No. 199,  a dark bay or brown colt by First Dude whose quarter in :20 3/5 was co-fastest at the distance at Wednesday’s Under Tack Session, was sold to David Dizney Racing Syndicate for $400, 000 to top the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2017 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age. Consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, he’s a half brother to stakes placed Sola Gratia out of Natalie’s Moment, by Kris S.

Linda Rice, Agent, went to $320,000 for Hip No. 335, a son of Midnight Lute consigned by Timber Creek, Agent. The bay colt, whose eighth in :9 4/5 was the fastest work at the distance at Thursday’s Under Tack session, is out of stakes placed Screen Giant, by Giant’s Causeway.

Hip No. 317, a son of Twirling Candy consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, was purchased for $310,000 by Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent. The dark bay or brown colt, who worked a quarter in :21 1/5 at Thursday’s Under Tack Session, is out of stakes winner Saint Knows, by Sweetsouthernsaint, a full sister to stakes winner Her Sweet Saint

Hip No. 138, Times Square, a son of Tapit also consigned by Eddie Woods, went to Calumet Farm for $250,000. The gray or roan colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 4/5 on Wednesday, is out of graded stakes winner Magical Feeling, by Empire Maker.

Eddie Woods consigned Hip No. 310, a son of Curlin purchased by Steven W. Young, Agent, for $240,000. Out of stakes placed Runge, by Posse, a half sister to stakes placed Certain Pride, the dark bay or brown colt breezed a quarter on Thursday in :21 3/5.

Holly & David Wilson went to $210,000 for Hip No. 68, a son of Scat Daddy consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent. The chestnut colt, who worked a quarter in :21 1/5 on Wednesday, is out of Intelyhente, by Smart Strike, a full sister to graded stakes winner Bel Air Beauty.

Hip No. 61, a daughter of Union Rags consigned by Harris Training Center LLC, went to Linda Rice, Agent, for $200,000. The bay filly, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 last Wednesday, is out of stakes winner I’m Mom’s Favorite, by Indian Charlie, a half sister to graded stakes placed Toutsie Rules.

Hip No. 239, a son of Quality Road consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Agent, was sold to Justin Casse, Agent, for $200,000. The bay colt, who breezed an Under Tack eighth in :10  flat on Thursday, is out of Pirate Queen, by Unbridled’s Song, a daughter of graded stakes winner Be Gentle.

Hip No. 33, son of Scat Daddy consigned by James Layden, Agent, went to Linda Rice, Agent, for $185,000. The bay colt, whose quarter in :20 3/5 was co-fastest at the distance last Wednesday, is a full brother to graded stakes winner Conquest Daddyo out of Hangingbyamoment, by Thunder Gulch.

Hip No. 105, a gray or roan filly by Tapit consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, was purchased by Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, for $180,000. Out of graded stakes placed stakes winner La Nez, by Storm Creek, she sped an quarter  in :21 1/5 last Wednesday.

Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent paid $150,000 for Hip No. 90, a daughter of City Zip out of stakes winner Karakorum Elektra by Freud. The bay filly, who turned in an Under Tack eighth in :10 1/5 on Wednesday, is consigned by Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co., Inc., Agent.

For the session, 199 horses grossed $7,217,500, compared with 147 selling for a total of $3,645,000 at last year’s first session. The average was $36,269, rising 46.3% compared with $24,798 a year ago, while the median price was $18,000, up 33.3% compared to $13,500 in 2016.  The buyback percentage was 22.9%;  it was 30.1% last year.

The June Sale continues Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Hip No.’s 375 – 769 will be offered.
